A&P Falmouth Completes Troy Refit

A&P Falmouth has completed the dry docking of ABC Maritime’s double hull oil and chemical tanker, Troy. Beating competition from European shipyards, A&P Falmouth carried out a comprehensive 17-day refit package during the vessel’s dry-docking last month. Work included the class intermediate survey, renewal of the main deck cargo heating pipework, extensive deck cargo washing and line replacement, the overhaul of the main engine including turbo charger, fuel gear and associated pumps, a bow thruster seal change and overhaul and a number of small steel repairs.Stuart Bartle, Chief Operating Officer of ABC Maritime said: “ABC Maritime has had a long relationship with A&P having docked the Troy in Falmouth in 2008.

Wärtsilä Systems for Vietnamese Tankers

Three new 21,800 dwt chemical tankers, under construction at two different shipyards in Vietnam owned by Triyards Holdings Limited, will feature integrated Wärtsilä propulsion and power generation systems. These ships are being built for Swiss-Canadian Maritime Ltd and will be managed by Switzerland based ABC Maritime A.G. The contract with Wärtsilä was signed in November, and there are options for three more vessels. This contract represents the largest ever scope of supply that Wärtsilä is to deliver to a shipyard in Vietnam. Wärtsilä's capability for providing a total solution package and to be responsible for the engineering and integration of the solutions provided, is cited as being a key factor in the award of this contract.

TRIYARDS Reports Strong 4QFY15

TRIYARDS Holdings Limited (TRIYARDS or the Group) reported a strong finish for the financial year ended 31 August 2015 (FY15) with a 59% year-on-year jump in net attributable profit (PATMI) to US$8.4 million in the fourth quarter, driven mainly by liftboat construction. Work done on liftboats as well as contributions from aluminium shipbuilder Strategic Marine also lifted Group revenue by 81% to US$88.4 million. For the full year, TRIYARDS achieved a PATMI of US$27.2 million on a revenue of US$270.1 million. Mr Chan Eng Yew, TRIYARDS’ Chief Executive Officer, said: “These four liftboats were secured earlier in FY15 and the new contract wins in the last 12 months have significantly added to our orderbook visibility despite the competitive and difficult operating conditions.

PIRIOU Delivers 53-meter FSIV

French boat builder PIRIOU has delivered the 11th of its 53- by 10-meter Fast Supply and Intervention Vessels (FSIV) to Suisse Outremer AG, to be operated by ABC Maritime AG. Built at the PIRIOU yard in Vietnam, the Karol W was turned over to the owners in October 2014. She is a sister ship to the FSIV Kacey delivered from the yard in May of 2014. The Kacey was on charter in Venezuela by September of this year. The ABS-classed all aluminum boat is distinguished by a plumb bow that is noted for providing an improved performance and comfort at sea.

New Barge Speeds Le Havre Bunker Options

TOTAL Marine Fuels has increased its bunkering capacity at the port of Le Havre and at the Port 2000 container facilities with the delivery of its new bunkering barge, Cimil. The 4,500 tonne capacity bunker tanker is highly manoeuvrable and can deliver blends and different grades at 500 tph. Christophe Girardot, General Manager TOTAL Marine Fuels, says, "Cimil is a modern and flexible barge which will complement the bunker delivery capacity we have in Le Havre with our current barge ST Sara. It will improve service to our contract clients, mostly liner and cruise operators, while allowing us to offer a replacement to the  ntifer pipeline service for tankers, which is out of service this year.
