ABCO Industries to Build New Arctic, Offshore Patrol Ships

Irving Shipbuilding, Canada’s National Shipbuilder, has awarded an $8.9 million contract to ABCO Industries Limited (ABCO) for the design and construction of 12 metre landing craft for the Royal Canadian Navy’s Harry DeWolf-class Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS). Halifax Shipyard is constructing up to six AOPS as part of the Government of Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS). Each AOPS will have one custom designed 12m landing craft onboard. The landing craft will be used by Royal Canadian Navy to deploy vehicles, such as all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles or trucks, from the ship’s vehicle bay. ABCO, based in Lunenburg…

New Canadian Research Vessel

ABCO Industries Limited recently launched a 60-ft Science Research Vessel for the Canadian Coast Guard. The vessel is currently undergoing trials and will be operating out of St. Andrews, NB on delivery.

ABB Acquires Turbocharging Service

ABB, a power and automation technology group, has acquired the turbocharging service activities of ABCO Industries Limited located in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. ABB did not disclose the value of the transaction. Prior to the acquisition, ABCO’s Industrial Equipment Group was the approved and licensed service station for ABB Turbocharging Service covering Atlantic Canada. Customers will now have direct access to ABB’s full range of turbocharger service offerings. The acquisition is being integrated into ABB in Canada’s Turbocharging network, which also includes service centers in Dorval, Quebec and Burnaby, British Columbia. ABCO Launches Three New Boats

ABCO Industries Limited, Marine Group — located on the waterfront of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia — manufactures welded aluminum boats to 60 ft. The company has served the marine industry for 57 years, and during the past 15 it has developed a comprehensive line of aluminum boats. Delivered in April, Pointe Caveau is a 48 x 16 ft. Delivered in May, this 26 x 10.5 ft. welded aluminum RIB for Ocean Exploration Whale Cruises is propelled by twin 130 hp outboards. Delivered July 27, 2004, this is a 32 x 10.5 ft. welded aluminum harbor patrol vessel for Halifax Port Authority. It is powered by a pair of 5.9l Cummins driving Ultradynamics 305 waterjets…
