Adnoc Fleet Slashes Carbon Emission 23%

41 Flag States Recognize IRClass

The classification society Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass), has made significant inroads into the Middle East market, following the announcement in October on its plans to further strengthen its footprint in the region.IRClass said in a press release that it has received authorisation as a Recognised Organisation (RO) from The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan – opening doors of opportunities of shipping companies to the classification society.Further, IRClass has also received authorisation as RO from the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Port and Maritime Authority.

ADNOC to Run Ruwais Container Terminal

ADNOC Logistics and Services, the shipping and services arm of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), has signed a contract with Borouge, a leading provider of value creating plastics solutions, to handle its Ruwais container terminal operations. ADNOC Signs Major Offshore Concession Agreements with Total

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has signed agreements with Total of France, awarding them stakes in two of Abu Dhabi’s new offshore concessions. Abu Dhabi Puts Fujairah LNG Terminal On Hold

Citing sources familiar with the matter, Bloomberg reports that Abu Dhabi is delaying the construction of the UAE’s first land-based LNG import terminal after contracting a floating liquefied natural gas unit. The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company has secured the services of an FSRU due to commence operations later in the year. The vessel will reportedly be based at Ruwais, to the west of Abu Dhabi, where there is an oil refinery and crude-loading port. The EmiratesLNG partnership was unavailable for immediate comment. The Fujairah LNG plant was scheduled for completion in 2018.

Grandweld Shipbuilding Grows in Middle East

United Arab Emirates shipyard Grandweld has secured its position as the number one regional shipyard for the offshore segment, completing construction of a total of 17 vessels over the space of the last year. Latest projects include advanced crew boats, dive maintenance and support vessels, and work crane boats for a who’s who of Middle East energy firms and offshore contractors. Grandweld, which has been operating from its Dubai base since 1984, specializes in vessels custom built to conduct complex operations in the region’s challenging offshore environment.

Boskalis Wins Abu Dhabi Dredging Contract

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has won a contract from the National Petroleum Construction Company of Abu Dhabi, UAE for dredging work related to the installation of an offshore gas pipeline of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company as well as to an existing offshore gas pipeline. Boskalis will dredge a more than 50-kilometre-long trench between Das Island and Ras Al Qila in onshore Abu Dhabi for the new pipeline installation. Dredging work is scheduled to commence in phases from this quarter onwards and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2017.

Optimarin Wins Sinopacific AHTS Contract

Ballast water treatment (BWT) specialist Optimarin is continuing its strong start to the year, with the news that its Optimarin Ballast System (OBS) has been selected for nine Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group AHTS vessels. The contract win comes on the back of a recent ten unit order from Atlantis Tankers and the firm’s first foray into the fishing sector, with Fisherman’s Finest’s America’s Finest trawler. The nine AHTS vessels, designed by Sinopacific’s Shanghai Design Associates specialist OSV team, will be operated by ESNAAD, a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).

Rolls-Royce Wins Sinopacific Contract

Rolls-Royce has signed a contract with Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group (Sinopacific) in Shanghai for a package of power and propulsion equipment and deck machinery. The contract is to equip nine SPA80A Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels to be designed and built by Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group and owned and operated by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and its wholly-owned subsidiary, ESNAAD. Each ship will have a bollard pull of 80 metric tons, and be equipped with Bergen diesel engines, main and tunnel thrusters, electrical power system and a deck machinery package from Rolls-Royce.

Grandweld Delivers Vessel to ADNOC

United Arab Emirates leading shipyard Grandweld has delivered a dive maintenance and support vessel TAWAM1 to Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). Grandweld took the newbuild project from conception to completion, designing and building the 50-meter long vessel with a 65-ton bollard pull capability, after signing a contract in December 2013 with -ADNOC. TAWAM1 will be operated by ADNOC’s group company, Abu Dhabi Petroleum Ports Operating Company (IRSHAD). Among its specifications, TAWAM1 is equipped with anchor handling equipment and an offshore lifting crane with a capacity of 35 ton at 7.5-meter reach. This will be utilized to maneuver heavy lift items such as gravity anchors, mooring buoys and SBM hoses.
