Two New Tugs for Abu Dhabi Ports
Abu Dhabi Port Company (ADPC) has purchased two newly built tugs from Sanmar shipyards of Turkey. The new Yenicay Class tugs, based on the same Robert Allan Ltd Rascal 1800 basic design-which are equipped with the latest technology and have a bollard pull power of 30 metric tons, will service both Mussafah Port and Zayed Port and complement Abu Dhabi Port’s existing advanced fleet. Khalifa Port Container Volume Up 41pct
At the Khalifa Port Container Terminal, which is operated by Abu Dhabi Terminals, container volumes increased by 41 per cent in the first seven months in 2015 over the same period in 2014. With this phenomenal growth, Abu Dhabi Port Company, the master developer, operator and manager of ports and industrial zones in the Emirate, is handling more cargo than ever before. New Abu Dhabi Ship Repair Yards Operational
Nico International informed that the new dry-docking and repair facility in Abu Dhabi Port Company’s Freeport has completed the first two months of successful operations and has carried out afloat and dry docking jobs on more than thirty vessels. The Dock is able to accommodate vessels up to 2,000 tons and 80m LOA while wet berth space is available up to 400m. This facility confirms Nico International’s strong reputation in the region as a professional service provider to the marine sector. In addition to that, the Ship Repair Unit also operates a large facility in Abu Dhabi Industrial Area with the capability of Docking Barges up to 130m LOA and managing major conversions jobs.
