OTC Names 2016 Award Winners

The 2016 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) will honor this year’s Distinguished Achievement Award recipients on Tuesday, 3 May, in Houston. As part of the OTC Distinguished Achievement Awards Luncheon, the conference will recognize Robert (Don) Vardeman of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation for individual achievement, the Marine Technology Society Dynamic Positioning Committee for institutional achievement, and both George Hirasaki and Yuri Makogon with its Heritage Award. Founded in 1969, OTC brings together industry leaders and professionals from more than 120 countries. Its large international participation provides excellent opportunities for global sharing of technology, expertise, products, and best practices that address current and future industry conditions.

Offshore Achievement Awards Open for Entries

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Aberdeen Section has announced that entries are now open for the 2014 Offshore Achievement Awards. The awards, which are hosted by SPE Aberdeen with the support of principal sponsor TAQA, have recognized outstanding success and innovation in the oil and gas sector for over 27 years. Last year’s awards ceremony attracted a record attendance of more than 530 industry professionals. This year SPE Aberdeen has introduced two new categories, the Inspiring Leader and the Environmentalist awards.

Industry Talent Recognized in the Offshore Achievement Awards

The offshore industry’s highest achievers were recognized at the 2013 Offshore Achievement Awards, with Malcolm Webb, chief executive of Oil & Gas UK, picking up the Significant Achievement accolade. The 27th awards ceremony, which saw a record attendance of 530 guests, took place at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre and was hosted by Scottish comedian Kevin Bridges. The industry’s top talent was celebrated in categories which included Great Large and Great Small Company, Safety Innovations and Emerging Technology.

Ellicott Dredges Receives Export Achievement Award

The U.S. Commerce Department awarded Ellicott Dredges, a Division of Baltimore Dredges, LLC, its 2006 Export Achievement Award on September 8. The Award was presented by Congressman Ben Cardin (Democratic nominee for US Senate in Maryland) and Commerce Deputy Assistant Secretary Colleen Litkenhaus. New Contracts in Iraq Bill Burwell of the Commerce Dept. said "Ellicott earned the award for its outstanding track record over the past several years in increasing its exports dramatically..."

OAA 2013 Are Open for Entries

Following a successful re-launch last year, the Society of Petroleum Engineers Aberdeen Section is again hosting the Offshore Achievement Awards with the support of main sponsor TAQA Bratani. This year will see the ceremony move to the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre to meet the huge demand for spaces at the event in March 2012. Over 70 entries were received for the 2012 awards, which took place at Ardoe House Hotel in Aberdeen in front of around 400 people. Winners included Expro Group, AMEC and 3sun Group, with Professor Alex Kemp picking up the Lifetime Achievement award.

Executive Director of MITAGS and PMI, to Receive Achievement Award

The Kings Point Alumni Foundation Board of Directors will bestow upon two (2) MITAGS’ directors, the current incumbent Glen Paine (’78), and his predecessor, Charles (Chuck) Pillsbury (’68), the Outstanding Professional Achievement Award at the annual Alumni Banquet Dinner. This award is made to alumni of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy or the Cadet Corps on any of their five-year anniversaries. The award is presented to those, who, in the judgment of the Alumni Awards Committee, “best exemplify the finest tradition of the Corps-Acta-Non Verba” by obtaining personal achievement in their chosen field and thus lending honor and prestige to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) will present the 2009 Distinguished Achievement Awards to Peter G. Noble for his marine design innovations and to Sakhalin Energy Investment Company for the Sakhalin II Phase 2 Project. The presentation will take place at the annual OTC Awards Luncheon on 5 May at Reliant Center in Houston, Texas, USA. The OTC will be held 4-7 May 2009, marking the event's 40th anniversary. Long Beach Awards Sovcomflot for Green Shipping

PAO Sovcomflot earned the Green Environmental Achievement Award from California's Port of Long Beach, recognizing the shipper for its ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship. The company was awarded for its fleet performance by the Port of Long Beach Green Flag Program in 2015. This voluntary program was set up to reduce the atmospheric emissions of vessels by encouraging ships to slow down when approaching the port. Four Honors for NOL at Asian Freight Awards

SINGAPORE, 27 APRIL 2011 – NOL Group won accolades for excellence in Shipping and Logistics and CEO Ron Widdows received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 25th Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards here tonight. Both of NOL’s principal businesses were honored at one of the longest-running awards tributes in the Asian transportation sector. Container carrier APL was named Best Shipping Line in the Transpacific and Asia-Europe trades. APL Logistics won in the category of Best Logistics Service Provider – Sea Freight.

NNS Executive Wins Achievement Award

Alma Martinez Fallon, HII's Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) director of supply chain procurement receives achievement award. Alma Martinez Fallon, director of supply chain procurement for the company's Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division, is a recipient of an Inside Business 2012 Women in Business Achievement Award. Fallon was presented with the award during a banquet held at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott. Women in Business Achievement Award recipients are selected by a panel of judges that reviews nominations from the public.

Kongsberg Maritime DP Pioneer Earns Award

The Marine Technology Society has honoured Kongsberg Maritime Dynamic Positioning veteran, Nils Albert Jenssen with a distinguished achievement award for his services to Dynamic Positioning. Nils Albert, who is internationally recognised as one of the world's leading engineering authorities on DP, received the award at the DP user seminar, organised by the society, in Houston, 24-25 September 2007. The Marine Technology Society is a highly respected non-profit organisation made up of ocean engineers, technologists, policy makers and educators. "Nils Albert Jenssen has played a key role in the development of DP Software and control systems for almost thirty years. He has also been the driving force behind the evolution of the highly successful Kongsberg systems.

Dr. Steven Cargill Receives MTS Award

GL Noble Denton expert receives distinguished achievement award for contribution to the DP Industry. In Houston, TexasThe Marine Technology Society (MTS) Dynamic Positioning Committee honors Dr Steven Cargill with its 2012 Distinguished Achievement Award. The prize recognises Steven’s contribution to the field of dynamic positioning (DP) throughout his 28-year career within the oil and gas industry. It pays tribute to his success in developing important technical standards on failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) for DP systems, and his input to a range of international guideline documents published by the Marine Technology Society.

MPA Rewarded for Green Practices

The Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) clinched top honours at this year's Singapore Environmental Achievement Awards. MPA has won two of the three titles given to the sector, including the overall Outstanding Singapore Environmental Achievement Award. It was also named joint-winner for the public sector category together with the Nanyang Technological University. At an event organised by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC) on Wednesday, (Aug 26) MPA was presented the Outstanding Singapore Environmental Achievement Award.

Northrop Grumman's Stewart Honored with Achievement Award

Women in Business achievement award from Inside Business for her demonstrated leadership, professional accomplishment and her commitment to the community. In her current position, Stewart leads thousands of employees who build and maintain some of the most complex machines in the world - nuclear-powered attack submarines. She oversees construction of the new Virginia-class submarines and planning and engineering services for the Navy's Seawolf and Los Angeles-class submarines. Stewart joined Northrop Grumman's Newport News sector in 1982 as a technical planner and has held positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of ship repair, life cycle engineering, strategic planning and computer administration and control.

NSWC Carderock Receives 2005 ManTech Achievement Award

Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Carderock Division received the 2005 Defense Manufacturing Technology (ManTech) Achievement Award by the U.S. Office of Naval Research for extraordinary accomplishments on DD(X), the Navy’s next-generation multirole surface combatant. The 2005 ManTech Achievement Award specifically recognizes a project that addresses a design challenge using composite-to-steel joint development for DD(X). This exceptional ship features an all-composite deckhouse joined to a steel hull. “Carderock strives to deliver our customers with the right product to meet their needs and provide solutions,” said Carderock Division Commander Capt. Charles Behrle.

The 2015 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), to be held May 4–7 at NRG Park, will kick off on Sunday, May 3 in Houston with the Annual OTC Dinner to honor the recipients of this year’s Distinguished Achievement Awards, this year recognizing Elmer (Bud) Danenberger III for individual achievement, the Petrobras pre-salt development for corporate achievement, and Ray R. Ayers with the Heritage Award. Th eOTC Distinguished Achievement Award for Individuals will honor Elmer (Bud) Danenberger III for his contributions to offshore safety and environmental protection.

Crowley Maritime Scoops the Pool of 2013 CSA Achievement Awards

During the tenth-annual Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA) awards ceremony held in Washington DC , Crowley Maritime Corporation was awarded with 100 Certificates of Environmental Achievement for 2013 – more than any other company in the running. The certificates were awarded to Crowley-owned and operated vessels for having worked at least two consecutive years without an environmental incident. Additionally, Crowley was also presented with a membership award in recognition of five years of support to the CSA.

89 Crowley Vessels Receive Environmental Awards

Eighty-nine Crowley Maritime Corp.-owned and operated vessels were honored with Certificates of Environmental Achievement for years of safe operations during the eleventh-annual Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA) awards ceremony today. Crowley received an award for each vessel that worked at least two consecutive years without an environmental incident. The 89 vessels have logged a combined 968 years of service without incident, a true testament to Crowley’s commitment to keeping harbors and oceans clean.
