Acta Marine’s Newbuild Completes Sea Trials
The SOV W2W vessel Acta Auriga, currently under construction at Ulstein Verft, Norway for owner Acta Marine, has successfully completed sea trials. The walk-to-work vessel is custom-designed for the offshore energy industry. Together with a 3D crane, SMST gangway and elevator tower, and the X-BOW and X-STERN design solutions, the vessel will break new grounds in workability, in-field agility, offshore logistics and comfort on board for 120 persons combined with a low fuel consumption, the builder said.

Netherlands based ship owner Acta Marine B.V. has placed an order with Ulstein Verft AS for the construction of a DP2 construction support vessel (CSV) primarily aimed at the offshore wind market. The vessel, which carries the new SX195 design from Ulstein Design & Solutions AS, offers in-field flexibility, winter workability, safe transfer of people and cargo, optimized on-board logistics, high productivity and high comfort for charterers’ crews are of eminent value, according to the builder.
ELA Offshore Accommodation for OSV SeaMar Splendid
ELA Container Offshore GmbH delivered an Offshore Living Quarter to Netherlands based SeaMar Services BV in Den Helder. The container was placed on board the Offshore Support Vessel ‘SeaMar Splendid’ and provided extra accommodation for subsea work in the North Sea. “We decided to hire an A60 ELA Offshore Living Quarter with DNV 2.7-2 offshore certification as SeaMar standards demands quality and all rental of additional high critical equipment need to comply to all local and international legislation on- and offshore”, says Sybrand Spijksma, Technical Superintendent at SeaMar Services BV.
Floating Tidal Energy Platform Up and Running
The first months of operating the BlueTEC tidal energy platform have been a success, according to the BlueTEC Texel Tidal partnership: with every tidal flow, the platform supplies electricity into the Dutch national grid. The success has led project partners to work toward developing plans for the installation of a second, larger turbine. “Getting the platform from the drawing board to a grid-connected operating reality in just six months is amazing,” said Allard van Hoeken, Head of New Energy at Bluewater Energy Services and recent recipient of the first Prince Friso Engineers Award.

Acta Marine Takes Four Shoalbuster AHTS'
Damen Shipyards Group will supply Acta Marine with four Shoalbuster anchor handling tugs. Three of the anchor handling tugs will be supplied from Damen Marine Services’ charter fleet, while Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld will be supplying the fourth, a new Shoalbuster, in March 2013. “Shoalbusters are excellent multi-purpose vessels that we will be able to use all over the world in dredging and marine contracting projects, as well as for oil and gas projects and offshore wind projects”, says Govert-Jan van Oord, managing director of Acta Marine.
Acta Marine Gets Shallow-water Supply Work Contracts
Mittelplate is Germany’s largest oilfield and is located in the Wadden Sea tidelands, a unique and sensitive natural environment. Already for many years Acta Marine have been engaged with providing marine support for Mittelplate. The new charter contracts awarded by RWE-Dea involve a total of five Acta Marine vessels and extend over a period of multiple years. Two state-of-the-art supply vessels, customly designed for Mittelplate, will replace the three units currently in service. This will result in a 53% reduction of the local impact from air emissions and a 22% reduction of CO2 emissions.
