As the offshore industry recovers, choosing the right hull coating for those newly activated assets will be equally important.The global offshore support vessel (OSV) market is still recovering from a protracted slump, but thankfully momentum is now returning with predictions for significant activity for OSV’s ahead. Hempel’s Fouling Defence Product Hempaguard Applied to 500 Vessels

Leading marine coatings manufacturer, Hempel, announces - after only two and a half years on the market -  its award winning innovative fouling defence product Hempaguard has now been applied as a full vessel coating to 500 ships. This milestone was reached yesterday with the coating of a 61,614 dwt, 2011-built, container vessel. HEMPAGUARD: New Antifouling from Hempel

Hempel said its brand-new HEMPAGUARD, a ground-breaking hull coating concept, offers resistance to fouling during idle periods, significant fuel savings and trading flexibility. HEMPAGUARD shows excellent fouling resistance for up to 120 days during idle periods and fuel savings of six percent on average over a full docking interval, Hempel said. HEMPAGUARD is also extremely flexible, covering most combinations of sailing routes and trading patterns. Hempel Introduces New Hull Coating Concept

Global coatings supplier Hempel has launched HEMPAGUARD, a new hull coating concept for the shipping industry, which Hempel said offers both outstanding resistance to fouling during idle periods and significant fuel savings. The technology, dubbed ActiGuard, has been five years in development and is based on silicone-hydrogel and biocide science. HEMPAGUARD available as two separate products: HEMPAGUAR X5 and HEMPAGUARD X7. Hempel’s tests show excellent fouling resistance of up to 120 days during idle periods plus fuel savings of six per cent on average with HEMPAGUARD.
