Markey Machine Hires Atkinson as Business Development VP

Scott R. Atkinson has joined winch and deck machinery manufacturer Markey Machine as vice president of business development. Atkinson’s previous business development roles were at the former Rapp Hydema (now part of MacGregor), AdvanTec Marine and Arctic Storm, as well as through his consulting firm, Jaeger Marine. Prior new business included advances into offshore wind, offshore oil and gas, research vessels, and varied marine business in the Russian Far East.Blaine Dempke, CEO of Markey Machine, said, “Scott adds an important aspect to our customer relations and business development efforts.

Freeman Hatches Headed for Offshore Wind Work

St. Johns Ship Building recently awarded AdvanTec Marine, parent company of Freeman Marine, an order for cast-aluminum hatches to be installed aboard two new-build crew transfer vessels (CTV) that the Palatka, Fla. shipyard is building for WINDEA CTV. Freeman’s 2400 series hatches, with knife-edge seals and integrated quick-acting handles, meet USCG emergency-egress requirements. The hatches also ensure maximum watertight protection required for tough offshore working environments.

Diamond Sea Glaze Wins Order from Silverback Marine

Diamond Sea Glaze said it has been chosen by Tacoma, Wash. shipbuilder Silverback Marine to provide windows and a wheelhouse door for its first-ever crew transfer vessel (CTV) for ship-to-shore (STS) operations. USA Sliding Doors Chosen for Canada’s Joint Support Ships

AdvanTec Marine said its USA Sliding Doors division has been awarded a contract from Seaspan Shipyards to supply Fire-Rated, Class II and III Watertight doors for both Joint Support Ships (JSS) that Seaspan is building for the Royal Canadian Navy under Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy.The order includes USA-1005 Cargo Doors and the USA-1003 Personnel Doors. Both models have remote (wheelhouse) and local controls, both electric, while the drive system is electro-hydraulic. In the event vessel power is lost, a local manual handpump is also provided as a failsafe feature.

Andrew Mund Named AdvanTec Marine Technical Director

Licensed Professional Engineer and Naval Architect Andrew Mund has been named AdvanTec Marine's Technical Director.In this role Mr. Mund will extend his commitment to the industry by expanding his offerings to a wider client base, leading marine engineering and design initiatives for all five of the companies that make up the AdvanTec Marine family:  Diamond Sea Glaze; Freeman Marine; Manly Marine; Pacific Coast Marine and Steelhead Marine. Mr. Mund's early career days were spent as a naval architect.
