Aker Kvaerner Awarded Drilling Equipment Contracts

Aker Kvaerner has been awarded two drilling equipment contracts by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd (DSME) in Korea; one for a single drillship, the other one for a semi rig. The total contract value for Aker Kvaerner is approximately $213m. The scope of work for both contracts is to deliver complete drilling equipment packages including installation and commissioning supervision. The contracts will be executed by the Aker Kvaerner subsidiary, Aker Kvaerner MH in Kristiansand, Norway which is recognised for its field-proven drilling equipment. The delivery of drilling equipment to DSME's drillship will be based on a solution delivered to ultra deepwater semi submersibles, and will be adapted to fit their multipurpose floater.

Aker Kvaerner has a Breakthrough Order in China

Aker Kvaerner won a contract by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) for delivery of drilling equipment and system for an ultra deepwater drilling semisubmersible unit. The contract value for Aker Kvaerner is approximately $128 million. "This first delivery of drilling equipment systems into the Chinese offshore market is a breakthrough for Aker Kvaerner. We are very pleased that CNOOC has chosen us and are committed to execute this project to a high quality and on schedule," says Mads Andersen, executive vice president in Aker Kvaerner. The contract is undertaken by the Aker Kvaerner subsidiary, Aker Kvaerner MH in Kristiansand. The scope of work is to deliver drilling equipment package, installation and commissioning supervision.

Aker Kvaerner Acquires Drilling Technology Company

Aker Kvaerner has signed an agreement for acquisition of 50 percent of the shares in the German company Wirth Maschinen- und Bohrgeräte-Fabrik GmbH (Wirth) with an option to buy the remaining shares within the next years. Wirth is a quality supplier of drilling equipment such as mud pumps, drawworks and components for top drives. In addition the company provides tunnel and foundation boring machines for infrastructure projects and products for the mining and processing industries. Wirth has been a key supplier for the Aker Kvaerner subsidiary Aker Kvaerner MH for more than 20 years and Wirth's products have been included in many of the complete drilling packages recently awarded to Aker Kvaerner MH.

The total contract value for Aker Kvaerner is approximately USD 86 million. The award is based on an option included in a contract Aker Kvaerner signed with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd in February 2006. The work is undertaken by the Aker Kvaerner subsidiary, Aker Kvaerner MH in Kristiansand. The scope of work for Aker Kvaerner MH is to deliver a complete drilling package including engineering, equipment deliveries and commissioning services. The ultra deepwater semi-submersible drilling rig is scheduled for delivery in 2009.

Aker Kvaerner Gets Contract

Aker Kvaerner has signed a contract with MPF Corp Ltd. for delivery of drilling equipment to the Multi Purpose Floater (MPF) drillship. The drilling package is designed for world wide, harsh environment and ultra deepwater drilling operations. The contract is undertaken by the Aker Kvaerner subsidiary, Aker Kvaerner MH in Kristiansand. The delivery consists of a complete drilling equipment package; derrick and associated equipment, drillfloor and pipedeck equipment with control system, tensioning systems, mud handling equipment and subsea handling equipment.

Aker Kvaerner Awarded Drilling Equipment Contract

Aker Kvaerner has been awarded a contract with Neptune Marine & Drilling Pte Ltd in Singapore for delivery of a drilling equipment to the Neptune Explorer drillship. The total contract value for Aker Kvaerner is approximately $23m. "This contract which consists of derrick drill floor equipment and motion compensation are based on Aker Kvaerner MH's standard drilling equipment. This contract with Neptun is our latest project that will benefit from standardisation of our drilling equipment," says Roald Amundsen, President of Aker Kvaerner MH. The drilling equipment package will be delivered end 2006/ beginning 2007.

Aker Kvaerner Awarded Drilling Equipment Contract

Aker Kvaerner has signed a contract with Jurong Shipyard Pte. Ltd in Singapore for delivery of a drilling system for one ultra deepwater drilling semi-submersible unit. The total contract value for Aker Kvaerner is approximately $113m. The contract is undertaken by the Aker Kvaerner subsidiary, Aker Kvaerner MH in Kristiansand. The scope of work is to deliver a complete drilling package consisting of engineering, drilling equipment deliveries and subsea equipment. The award is based on the second option included in a contract Aker Kvaerner MH signed with Jurong Shipyard beginning of October 2005. This delivery is an identical copy to previous deliveries to Jurong and will be a highly efficient system designed for parallel operations.

Aker Kvaerner Awarded Drilling Equipment Contract

Aker Kvaerner has signed a contract with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd in South Korea for delivery of drilling systems for two semi-submersible drilling rigs ordered by SeaDrill. The total contract value for Aker Kvaerner is approximately NOK 930 million. The scope of work for Aker Kvaerner MH is to deliver two complete drilling packages consisting of engineering, equipment deliveries and commissioning services. The contract between Daewoo shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. and Aker Kvaerner MH includes opportunities for options to be agreed and amended at a later stage. The deepwater semi-submersible drilling rigs are scheduled for delivery in Q1/2008 and Q3/2008.

Aker Kvaerner Gets Drilling Equipment Contract for Samsung

Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. in Korea has awarded Aker Kvaerner a contract for delivery of a new drilling rig to Eastern Drilling's West E-Drill project. The project will start immediately at Aker Kvaerner's subsidiary Aker Kvaerner MH, with delivery of the drilling equipment package in the second half of 2007. The new contract was an option in a contract Aker Kvaerner MH signed with Samsung in June 2005, and the scope is similar for both contracts The drilling system will be a highly efficient system designed for parallel operations and operation at remote locations.
