Ocean Alliance Launches Day Two Product

The Ocean Alliance has launched its new Day Two Product with an estimated 3.6 million TEU carrying capacity provided by approximately 340 containerships deployed on 41 services. The new offering will commence in April 2018. Alliance partners CMA CGM, COSCO, Evergreen and OOCL will offer 20 Transpacific services, six Asia-Europe services, four Asia-Mediterranean services, four Transatlantic services, five Asia-Middle East services and two Asia-Red Sea services. “Ocean Alliance has been a fantastic success from a customer perspective since its launch last spring and we are very enthusiastic to announce our Day Two Product,” said Olivier Nivoix, Senior Vice President Ocean Alliance Lines.

OCEAN ALLIANCE Sets Out Network

Members of the OCEAN ALLIANCE, COSCO Container Lines, CMA CGM, Evergreen Line and Orient Overseas Container Line,  signed a document entitled the Day One Product, which sets out the proposed OCEAN ALLIANCE’s network, including port rotation for each service loop. The Day One network intends to deploy around 350 container vessels with an estimated total carrying capacity of 3.5 million TEUs to provide one of the most comprehensive service coverage in the market on the following trade lanes. The vessel deployment details for each service loop, will be released around end of this November. 20 Transpacific services (estimated 160 port pairs, with 13 Asia - West Coast North America services, 7 Asia - East Coast North America and U.S.

CMA CGM to Upgrade its FAL 1 Service

In order to improve the reliability of its service, CMA CGM has decided to review the port coverage of FAL 1. As from m/v CMA CGM JULES VERNE voy. 115 FLE, FAL 1 service will no longer call the port of Zeebrugge. Last vessel calling Zeebrugge will be m/v CMA CGM VASCO DE GAMA voy. 113FLE on August 29th, 2016. As from m/v CMA CGM ALEXANDER VON HUMBOLDT voy. 109 FLE, FAL 1 service will no longer call the port of Dalian. Last vessel calling Dalian will be m/v CMA CGM MAGELLAN voy. 107FLE (ETA Dalian on September 16th, 2016).

Salalah Announces New CMA CGM Service Calls

The Port of Salalah, a major Arab Gulf region gateway port and transshipment hub on the Arabian Sea, has announced that French-based CMA CGM, the world’s third-largest container shipping line, will add two new weekly services to East Africa, and Europe, beginning the first week of December: the Noura Express and the EPIC service. The Noura Express service, on the East Africa trade lane operates four vessels of up to 2,755 TEU capacity, linking the ports of Jebel Ali (UAE), Khor al Fakkan (UAE), Mombasa (Kenya), Mogadishu (Somalia) and Salalah. At Salalah, transshipment is available to CMA CGM’s Europe Pakistan India Consortium (EPIC) Service, which links ports in South Asia, the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea, the Mediterranean, and North Europe.

CMA CGM Jules Verne Inaugurated by French President

CMA CGM Jules Verne, the world’s largest containership (16,000 twenty-foot equivalent units), and sailing under the French flag was officially inaugurated by French President François Hollande in Marseille, on June 4. The CMA CGM Jules Verne arrived on June 3 at Marseille for an exceptional call and was welcomed by thousands of local people and employees from CMA CGM’s Head Office. Her inauguration was a fitting celebration to mark the 35th anniversary of a Group that was founded in Marseille by Jacques R. Saadé in 1978.

CMA CGM Group said that the CMA CGM Marco Polo, the world’s largest containership, began its first voyage on Wednesday, November 7, in Ningbo, China. The ship is a 16,000 TEU vessel, owned by CMA CGM, sailing under the UK flag. Built by DSME (Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering) in South Korea, the ship displays exceptional dimensions at 396 x 54m, with a draft of 16m. CMA CGM Marco Polo is the first of a series of three 16,000 TEU vessels, will to be named after great explorers. The delivery of the two next vessels is expected in 2013.

The 'CMA CGM MARCO POLO' (16 000 TEU) christened at the Zeebrugge Container Terminal in Belgium during maiden European voyage. The ceremony was performed by 'Godmother', Mrs. Naila Saadé, President of the CMA CGM Corporate Foundation and wife of Mr. Jacques R. Saadé, CMA CGM Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. The new 16 000 TEU vessel, owned by CMA CGM, sails under the UK flag. Built by DSME (Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering) in South Korea, the ship is 396 meters long, 54 meters wide, with a draft of 16 meters.
