Alewijnse Diesel-Electric Propulsion for Damen Cable Layer

Systems integrator Alewijnse Marine Systems has been awarded the contract for the full electrical fit out of Damen’s new cable layer, now under construction for international contractor Van Oord for delivery at the end of 2014. The 120m vessel is intended for the installation of electricity cables linking offshore wind farms to the shore. Alewijnse Noord and the Damen Shipyards Group have maintained a close working relationship for a number of years, and this latest contract is the most recent in a series of projects undertaken together.

Dutch Shipyard Alewijnse Carefully Race to Wire Warship

Following the arrival of the Royal Netherlands Navy Joint Support Ship 'Karel Doorman' at Vlissingen, Alewijnse Marine Systems say they are now on the second stage of a four year project to install the electrical systems on this exceptionally sophisticated vessel. The contract was awarded by Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding at the end of 2010 and is for the installation of the ship-wide electrical systems including those for command and control, environmental systems and power distribution and monitoring systems.

Netherlands-bound Support Ship Departs Romania

Joint Support Ship HNLMS Karel Doorman departed Romania and en route to its last stage of execution in The Netherlands. The vessel departed Galati on July 22, 2013, and it is expected to reach Vlissingen in three weeks. It has been two years and a half since the keel was laid and the works on the vessel started in Damen Shipyards Galati. For the size of the project that meant a tight schedule. The vessel measures 205 meters in length and 30 meters in breadth, with a total displacement of 28,000 tons, accommodation for 175 crew persons and up to 125 non-listed persons.

Alewijnse Establishes Operations in Qatar

Alewijnse Marine Systems, a systems integrator in the commercial, naval and superyacht sectors, announced the formation of Alewijnse Middle East LLC, the latest stage in its strategy to establish operations in high growth developing markets. Based in Qatar, Alewijnse Middle East (AME) is a partnership between Alewijnse Marine Galati, headquartered in Galati, Romania, and Sora Marine Services, a highly regarded Qatari company with extensive experience in providing maritime services.

Alewijnse Completes Conversion of Atlantic Amsterdam

Alewijnse Marine Systems completed the electrical conversion of the jack-up rig Atlantic Amsterdam. The Atlantic Amsterdam has spent the last nine months at Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen being converted from a drilling rig to offshore hotel accommodation by Nordica Offshore Pte, Ltd. Alewijnse was responsible for the supply, installation, integration and commissioning of a number of critical electrical systems. The Atlantic Amsterdam, formerly called Shelf Explorer, is owned by Atlantic Amsterdam Pte. Ltd. of Singapore, a subsidiary of Ezion Holdings Ltd.
