Davie Acquires Helsinki Shipyard

Canadian shipbuilding group Davie announced it has finalized its acquisition of Finland’s Helsinki Shipyard Oy, which has struggled to gain new business due to Western sanctions against Russia.The deal has been nearly a year in the making, starting from December 2022. By March 2023, Davie exercised an exclusive option to purchase the assets of Helsinki Shipyard. In April a business purchase agreement was signed, and on July 4 Davie secured a new 50-year land lease from the city of Helsinki.Financial terms of agreement were not disclosed…

Chantier Davie Pre-qualified under Canada's NSS

Canada’s Asterix Completes Navy Trials

Canada’s first Resolve-Class Naval Support Ship, Asterix, has been formally accepted by the Department of National Defense and has now entered full operational service with the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) and Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) following a period of at-sea trials and testing, announced Davie Shipbuilding and Federal Fleet Services. Asterix performed daily replenishment-at-sea (RAS) exercises with the RCN and conducted extensive RCAF CH-148 Cyclone helicopter operations to prove and demonstrate the capabilities of the Resolve-Class Naval Support Ship.

Davie Delivers Canada’s New Naval Support Ship

Commissioning and sea-trials have been completed for Canada’s first Resolve-Class Naval Support Ship, Asterix, the first new naval support ship to enter service with the Royal Canadian Navy in more than five decades. Davie Launches Resolve-Class Naval Support Ship

Davie Shipbuilding announced that during the weekend it launched the largest naval vessel ever to be delivered from a Canadian shipyard – on time, to budget and at an internationally competitive cost. Commissioning of all onboard systems began in early September and on the 16th November 2017, the ship will perform its sea-trials prior to achieving Full Operational Capability (FOC). Maritime Strategy Will Revitalize Quebec's Economy - DAVIE

Chantier Davie Canada Inc. (‘Davie’) commended the new Couillard government yesterday on its rapid launch of the Maritime Strategy, only a few months after its election. Davie’s chairman, Alex Vicefield, welcomed the nomination of a Minister for the Implementation of the Maritime Strategy, Mr. Jean D’Amour, as well as the concrete measures announced in Quebec’s 2014-2015 Budget on Wednesday, including the additional amortization deduction for shipbuilding and ship renovation. Vicefield added that “the Maritime Strategy is a robust and comprehensive policy which spans the maritime value chain and encompasses all facets of the industry, from intermodal and bulk logistics to tourism, marine biotechnologies and, of course, shipbuilding and ship repair”.
