A Raft of Cruise Lines Have Suspended Operations

Several major cruise operators have voluntarily suspended operations in response to the developing coronavirus pandemic. For most, the reason given has been "an abundance of caution".On Wednesday, Viking became the first major cruise line to temporarily suspend operations, canceling all river and ocean cruises scheduled to embark between March 12 to April 30. New AmaWaterway Cruise Vessel Named 'AmaPrima'

AmaWaterways new ship was christened in Vilshofen, Germany, by well-known travel expert Valerie Wilson. The AmaPrima, a sister ship to the award-winning AmaCerto (2012), is a deluxe164-feet passenger vessel that incorporates such innovative design features as Twin Balconies (an AmaWaterways exclusive) and spacious staterooms that measure up to 350 sq. feet. AmaWaterways has chosen Valerie Wilson of Valerie Wilson Travel, Inc. to be Godmother of the lines new ship 'AmaPrima'. Wilson will christen the ship at a traditional christening ceremony in Vilshofen, Germany on August 6, 2013. As the New York City-based Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Valerie Wilson Travel, Wilson leads one of the largest privately owned and family-managed travel agencies in the United States. She also serves on numerous advisory boards and as a mentor to up-and-coming travel professionals.
