Martin Named President and CEO of Waterways Council, Inc.

Cornel J. Martin has been named as Waterways Council, Inc.'s President and CEO (designate), effective August 1, 2008.

Northrop Grumman Suspends Work On Project America

Northrop Grumman Corporation announced today that, effective immediately, it has suspended all work on Project America, a cruise ship program to build two 1,900-passenger cruise ships at its Pascagoula, Miss., Ingalls Operation. Approximately 1,250 of the 1,600 full-time employees assigned to the project will be affected by this suspension. An additional 500 subcontractor employees could also be affected. American Classic Voyages Company (AMCV), which is the parent of Project America, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Oct. 19, following the tragic events of Sept. 11 and their impact on the tourism industry. Northrop Grumman To Sell Cruise Ship Assets to NCL

The company does not expect the sale to impact previously announced financial guidance. In May, the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) conducted an auction for the cruise ship and associated materials. MARAD directed Northrop Grumman Ship Systems to proceed unilaterally with the disposition of the vessel. Northrop Grumman had previously been under contract to American Classic Voyages Company to construct two 1,900-passenger vessels. after AMCV filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Frommelt Named President of PVA

Gary Frommelt, Hornblower Marine Services, Elizabeth, Ind., was elected 2003 PVA President on February 18 during the PVA Annual Convention at MariTrends 2003 held in Long Beach, CA. Other officers elected were PVA Vice President, David B. Clark, Golden Gate Ferry , Larkspur, CA, and PVA Secretary-Treasurer, Cornel Martin, Delta Queen Steamboat Company, New Orleans, LA. Frommelt serves as project manager for Hornblower Marine Services as director of marine operations for Caesars Indiana-home to the largest riverboat casino in the world. Frommelt was most recently PVA Vice President, has served on the PVA Board of Directors since 1996, and has been a long-term member of the Safety Committee.
