Suez Canal Offers New Rebates for LNG Carriers

The Suez Canal Authority has announced rebates for LNG carriers effective from July 1, 2023.Circular no. (7/2017) concerning LNG carriers (laden/ballast) has been amended as follows:LNG carriers (laden/ballast) operating between the American Gulf (and ports south) and areas in Asia will be granted rebates:a) Arabian Gulf ports (ports within the Arabian Gulf starting from Sur port, Oman) and eastern ports up to Cochin in India will be granted a rebate of 30% off normal Suez Canal…

Suez Canal Says LNG, LPG Carrier Rebates Extended to End of 2022

Egypt's Suez Canal has extended rebates on canal tolls for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers from July until the end of the year, the canal authority said in circulars published on its website.LPG tankers operating between the American Gulf and ports west of India, on the Maldives islands and at Kochi will receive a rebate of 20% on the canal's normal tolls, according to a circular published on its website on Monday.Those operating from ports east of Kochi to Singapore will receive a rebate of 55%, and from Singapore ports east will have a rebate of 75%.LNG

Navigating interesting times has the nation’s shipbuilding industry searching in unusual places. The answers could be blowing in the wind. Conducting commerce and forecasting the future for shipyards is akin to setting out in uncharted waters. For some, the voyage might prove to be easy sailing with favorable winds. Other times, it can be a rough ride, forcing long and unprogressive diversions. In the worst cases, one might run aground temporarily, hit rock bottom, capsize belly up, or be forced to turn around and give up.

Harley Marine Expands Service into New Port

Harley Marine Services has expanded its service to the American Gulf by acquiring the former MGI of Houston, Texas. This business will be operated under Harley Marine Gulf incorporating all of the quality and safety procedures established within the Harley Marine family of companies. Formed in 1976, MGI has eight boats on long term charter but operate twelve double hull barges in all. Four of the barges transfer product between terminals, and eight are bunker barges that work in the Houston, Galveston and Lake Charles areas with two stationed in New Orleans. The transaction extends Harley Marine’s geographical presence to the Gulf Coast. Harley Franco, Chairman and CEO of Harley Marine Services states, “MGI will be a welcomed addition to the Harley Marine Family of Companies.

Is More Drilling on the Way?

There has been a steady stream of bad news recently in the marine press regarding the health of the oil and gas industry in the Gulf of Mexico. Much of this bad "press" is fueled by boat operators who are trying to do a "Rope-a-dope" on their competitors. That is by "talking the industry down" they are trying to convince competition that "better days" may be years out, hoping they may not be ready when the turnaround comes. All indications are that the industry will indeed drill itself out of the current malaise - sooner than later. And the indicators for such a turnaround are right in front of your face if you know where to look. In general, people who follow intensely the oil and gas industry all agree that a significant rebound is on the way.
