Tribute to the Seventh Coast Guard District

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today that its annual Tribute to the Seventh Coast Guard District will be held at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. At the event, the Foundation will recognize Coast Guard Sector San Juan with the Coast Guard Foundation Award and will also recognize Joseph E. Farrell, Jr., president and CEO of Resolve Marine Group, for his support of the Coast Guard Foundation. Vice Admiral Karl Schultz, Commander of the Atlantic Area will be the keynote speaker and Reggie Rivers will emcee the event.

Coast Guard Foundation Awarded 128 Scholarships

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today that in 2016 it has awarded a record 128 new scholarships. Combined with multi-year scholarship recipients and three Fallen Heroes Scholars, the Foundation is currently supporting 163 students totaling $576,500 in support this year. In just over 26 years, the Foundation's scholarship program has paid out more than $3.8 million to more than 630 college-aged young adults to help the families of Coast Guard members achieve their goals of higher education. USCG Foundation to Present Alaska Awards

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today that they will honor the men and women who serve on the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Sycamorefor outstanding service to the 17th District and our nation. The Alaska Awards Dinner will be held at the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorageon Wednesday, August 10, 2016. Admiral Paul F. Zukunft, commandant of the Coast Guard will deliver keynote remarks and RADM Michael McAllister, commander of the 17th Coast Guard District will also address attendees. Alaska's Senator Lisa Murkoswki and Congressman Donald Young will also be in attendance. Special guest will be the renowned Iditarod Musher, AliyZirkle.

Coast Guard to Be Honored in New Orleans

The Coast Guard Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to the education and welfare of Coast Guard members and their families, announced today the details of its Annual Tribute to the 8th Coast Guard District. To be held on Friday, March 4 in New Orleans, Coast Guard Sector Mobile will be honored at the event for their skill and leadership in organizing a mass search and rescue operation on April 25, 2015. An unforeseen storm on that day struck Mobile Bay and nearby Mississippi Sound with tropical force winds and waves, grounding a 600-foot tanker and impacting the 117 sailboats participating in a race. In total, more than 470 sailors and crew were in the Bay that afternoon as the storm whipped up with little warning, creating a chaotic scene as competitors scrambled to react.

Mike Petters, president and CEO of Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII), was honored by the Coast Guard Foundation at the 35th annual Salute to the United States Coast Guard, held last Thursday at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. At the dinner, Petters and HII were recognized for their support of the Coast Guard Foundation and its mission. “Huntington Ingalls Industries has been a strong supporter of the Coast Guard Foundation for the past 30 years,” said Anne Brengle, the foundation’s president.

Coast Guard Foundation Raises $250,000 for Scholarships

The Coast Guard Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today that more than $1 million was raised at the 35th Annual Salute to the U.S. Coast Guard Thursday night in New York. The event was attended by more than 500. Of the $1 million raised, $250,000 will be allocated to the foundation’s scholarship program, which helps make college dreams a reality for the children of enlisted Coast Guard members. “The Coast Guard’s motto is ‘Semper Paratus’ or ‘Always Ready’,” said Anne Brengle, president, Coast Guard Foundation. “We embrace that motto in everything that we do including our scholarship program.

The Coast Guard Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced that its 35th Annual Salute to the U.S. Coast Guard will honor Mike Petters of Huntington Ingalls Industries for his long time support of the Foundation and its mission. Keynote speakers will include Captain “Sully” Sullenberger, captain of ‘Miracle on the Hudson’ US Airlines flight 1549 and Admiral Paul Zukunft, commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard. The Master of Ceremonies will be Gus Rosendale, news anchor with NBC 4 New York.

USCG Foundation Awards Record 86 Scholarships

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today that in 2015 it has awarded a record 86 scholarships with a value totaling just over $400,000. Inauguration of Jimmie H. Hobaugh Community Center

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today the completion of the Captain Jimmie H. Hobaugh Coast Guard Community Center. The Foundation will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration on Monday, July 27 at 1:00 p.m. in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Anne Brengle, Coast Guard Foundation president; RDML June Ryan, commander for Coast Guard District 9 (Cleveland); and CAPT Stephen Teschendorf, captain of the port will share remarks. The grand opening is the culmination of a project that has been under development since 2001 – the Coast Guard Foundation took up the cause three years ago to bring the project to fruition.

Coast Guard Foundation Hosts Annual Tribute

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today that its 11th Annual Tribute to the United States Coast Guard in Our Nation’s Capital will take place on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the National Building Museum, Washington, D.C. The Honorable James R. Clapper, Director of National Intelligence and Admiral Paul F. Zukunft, Commandant of the Coast Guard will deliver keynote remarks. CNN’s Kyra Phillips, and Fox News’ John Roberts will emcee the event. The event is chaired by Coast Guard Foundation board members Admiral Thad Allen, USCG (Ret.) and Corrine Kosar. The seven living past commandants of the United States Coast Guard are honorary co-chairs of the event.

The Coast Guard Foundation is a Connecticut-based non-profit organization – originally started by a trio of Coast Guard veterans who wanted to give back to their chosen service – which aims to provide support and comfort to the men and women in the Coast Guard, and their families. At the helm of the Coast Guard Foundation is Anne Brengle, a New York City native with a passion for non-profits and all matters maritime. When Brengle was recruited eight years ago to lead the Coast Guard Foundation, she wasn’t looking to change jobs. But following a meeting with the group, she was hooked.

Jenkins Elected Chairman of CG Foundation Board

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of Coast Guard members and their families, announced today that William E. Jenkins has assumed the role of chairman of the board after being elected at a meeting of the directors and trustees on March 13. Joining the Foundation's board in 2009, Jenkins served as treasurer and vice-chairman prior to being elected board chair. Jenkins is a director on the Board of American Bureau of Shipping, Inc., a trustee of Webb Institute, and was president and CEO of ExxonMobil affiliates providing worldwide shipping and marine transportation when he retired from ExxonMobil in 2012.

'Run to Remember' by USCG Foundation

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of Coast Guard members and their families, announced this year’s Run to Remember campaign and its commemorative t-shirt campaign. The Coast Guard Foundation’s Run to Remember is a worldwide movement that honors United States Coast Guard heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country. Last year, thousands of people participated in road races, memorial walks and other types of fitness events to honor the fallen heroes of the Coast Guard at 60 different events across the globe. Since its inception in 2011, Run to Remember has raised more than $100,000 to support the men and women of the Coast Guard and their families.

Coast Guard Foundation Announces Annual 8th District Salute Honorees

The Coast Guard Foundation announced that it will honor Thomas Allegretti and the American Waterways Operators (AWO), a motor lifeboat crew from Pensacola, Florida, and an aircrew from Air Station Houston, Texas at its Annual Salute to the 8th Coast Guard District on Friday, March 13th in New Orleans. The New Orleans salute raises approximately $500,000 each year to fund education, support and relief programs for the Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of Coast Guard members and their families.

Coast Guard Foundation Chosen Charity on Celebrity Apprentice

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of Coast Guard members and their families, announced today that this season, Sig Hansen, captain of the F/V Northwestern and star of Discovery’s Deadliest Catch, has selected the Foundation to be his designated charity on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice. The next season of the show, which begins airing this January, includes sixteen celebrity contestants who try to raise money and awareness for their chosen charities. Every week, the celebrity contestants work in teams to compete in business-driven tasks to win challenges. The winner will deliver a $250,000 check to his or her designated charity.

CGF Raises $0.25 mi for Fallen Heroes

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today that at the 34th Annual Salute to the U.S. Coast Guard, which was held in New York City last night, October 9th, more than $1 million was raised. Of that total, $250,000 will be allocated to the Foundation’s Fallen Heroes Fund, which provides support for the families of Coast Guard members lost in the line of duty. The Fallen Heroes Fund provides emergency assistance to the families, friends and shipmates of those Coast Guard heroes who make the ultimate sacrifice in service of our country.
