Sheikh Ahmed receives “Maritime Visionary Award”

HH Sheikh Ahmad bin Saeed Al Maktoum received The Maritime Standard Special “Maritime Visionary Award” in recognition of his exceptional foresight in supporting and revitalizing the UAE’s maritime sector in his role as Chairman of Dubai World. The award was presented on November 6th 2014 at the Atlantis, The Palm Jumeirah, at a glittering ceremony where leaders representing all facets of the industry from the Middle East & Indian subcontinent were present to honour HH & recognize his exception contribution. Over 600 guests joined the function to honour HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed at The Maritime Standards Award where PR guru, journalist and writer Alistair Campbell was Master of Ceremonies & led the accolades accorded to HH.

Kuwait Invests to Capitalize on Strategic Location

Kuwait invests $1.2 billion in bid for Northern Gulf gateway for new port facilities as regional market competition intensifies. A recent World Bank report ranked Kuwait in 36th place out of 155 countries in terms of the movement of goods and services through its ports, but traffic congestion at existing locations has prompted significant investment into new facilities in order to capitalise on commercial potential and secure gateway status for the Northern Gulf region.

MS&D 2011: Hamburg Conference on Maritime Security

Stéphane Beemelmans, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Defence, is to open the second MS&D, international conference and exhibition on maritime security and defence hamburg, in Hall A4 of the Hamburg Fair at 9:00 am on Wednesday 15 June. Other speakers at the Opening of this three-day international conference are Senator Michael Neumann, Hamburg Minister of the Interior and Sport; Bernd Aufderheide, President and CEO Hamburg Messe und Congress, who will give a welcoming address; and Vice Admiral Axel Schimpf, Chief of Staff of the German Navy, who will give a keynote speech. The conference starts with introductory remarks by Vice Admiral (rtd) Lutz Feldt, Chairman of the Conference, which is split into two sections – a Security Panel and a Defence Panel.

Deep-water Ports Give Region Competitive Edge

Senior executives from the region’s largest ports and shipping organisations, including ADPC (Abu Dhabi Ports Company) and DP World, took to the stage today (Tuesday 29 March) at the World Ports and Trade Summit. UAE Seaports Account for 61% of GCC Trade Volume

Recognising the vital role of the UAE’s ports in providing trade links between the Far East, Asia, Europe and the US, international shipping and cargo experts are set to gather in Abu Dhabi on 28-30 March, for the World Ports and Trade Summit 2011. Across the emirates, a number of port developments are moving forward as global trade gathers renewed momentum and investment capital again begins to flow post-recession. The economic and social imperatives of securing export and import routes for food and oil respectively are important drivers of the UAE’s rejuvenated ports investment.

Saudi Seaports Witness 10% Increase In Cargo To Q3 2010

Recognising the vital role of the region’s ports in providing trade links between the Far East, Asia, Europe and the US, international shipping and cargo experts are set to gather in Abu Dhabi on 28-30 March, for the World Ports and Trade Summit 2011. Multi-billion dollar investment in port operations across the Middle East is again surging forward in the post-recessionary environment, including Saudi Arabia, where total port throughput, increased almost 10% for the twelve months to the end of Q3 2010, according to figures released by the Saudi Ports Authority.

Dubai Maritime City & Arab Sea Ports MOU

Dubai Maritime City Authority recently held a meeting in Cairo with the Arab Sea Ports Federation (ASPF) to activate the memorandum of understanding signed by both parties earlier this year, which aims at identifying and capitalizing on joint opportunities for cooperation and mutual growth between the two parties.
