Prysmian Installs Vineyard Wind 1 Cables

Italian power and telecom cable-making and installation services firm Prysmian Group said Monday it had completed the installation and HV testing activities at Vineyard Wind 1, the first commercial-scale offshore wind farm in the US. Located more than 15 miles off the coast of Massachusetts, Vineyard Wind will consist of an array of 62 wind turbines that will generate 800 MW of electricity and power over 400,000 homes. The first turbine was installed last week.As for the Prysmian scope, the project was awarded to Prysmian Group in May 2019 by Vineyard Wind, LLC.

Prysmian Wins $900M U.S. Offshore Wind Contracts

Italian subsea power cable maker Prysmian said Friday it had secured contracts worth $900 million in the U.S. offshore wind market.Both projects have been awarded by Vineyard Wind, a joint venture between Avangrid Renewables and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP)-Worth around $300 million, the first cabling project will connect the 804 MW Park City offshore wind farm to the electricity grid in the state of Connecticut. Prysmian will deploy HVAC 275 kV three-core cables with XLPE insulation and single wire armoring. Cables will be produced in  Arco Felice, Italy, and Pikkala, Finland, and will be installed by the Leonardo da Vinci and Ulisse vessels.

DEME Offshore, Prysmian Win Largest Ever U.S. Offshore Wind Installation Deal

Offshore installation contractor DEME Offshore has said it has secured a +$1.1 billion Balance of Plant (BoP) contract for the construction of the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project in a consortium with Prysmian. The contract, with a total value amounting to +$1.9 Billion, has been awarded by Dominion Energy Virginia, a subsidiary of Dominion Energy Inc., to a consortium, made up of DEME Group and Prysmian.According to DEME Offshore, the agreement is the largest offshore wind installation contract ever awarded in the U.S.

Prysmian Gets 'Go Ahead' for $232M U.S. Offshore Wind Cable Project

Prysmian Wraps Up DolWin3 Gig

BP Completes $10.5-billion BHP Billiton Acquisition

Prysmian: CNP-1 Subsea Link Launched in Philippines

Prysmian Group, world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry, announces the successful commissioning of the submarine power cable link to connect Negros and Panay islands in the Philippines. Haven Marine Signs Service Contract with Svitzer

Haven Marine Services informs it has signed a five year contract with Svitzer which will see the yard service the requirements of Svitzer’s vessels within the Bristol Channel and Irish Sea areas. Polar Petroleum Corp. appointed Mr. Donald W. Brizzolara to the Company's Advisory Board as Chief Geological Advisor. Mr. Brizzolara represents 25 years of experience in oil and gas exploration and development, geology and consulting experience for firms such as ConocoPhillips and Shell. Of particular importance to the Company, Mr. Brizzolara's background includes work on the Prudhoe and Kuparuk fields, which, together constitute the majority of the oil production on the North Slope (51% and 20%, respectively). Fast Crew Boat Design: BMT Wins Penguin Contract

BMT Group subsidiary, BMT Nigel Gee, contracted to design two 25-metre Fast Crew Boats for Penguin International Ltd. Penguin Shipyard International, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore-based crewboat builder and operator, Penguin International Limited. Penguin is building the two BV classed, 70-passenger Fast Crew Boats for ARCO Marine and Oilfield Services for deployment in Nigeria’s offshore oil and gas industry. Delivery of the vessels is expected in the fourth quarter of 2013.

USS San Francisco Leaves Dry Dock

USS San Francisco (SSN 711) left dry dock Arco (ARDM 5) at Naval Base Point Loma, Nov. The Los Angeles-class, fast-attack submarine pulled into dry dock June 30, for an extensive docking availability, the largest shipyard work period ever performed at Arco. "This type of availability normally takes a little over nine months; however, team San Francisco, Arco, and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard got the submarine in and out of dry dock in four months - a record," said Lt. Cmdr. Mack Schmidt, Arco's commanding officer. The crew that made up this dry docking evolution included Sailors from both San Francisco and Arco, as well as personnel from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. "I have been in the Navy 20 years and I have never come out of a dry dock early," said Lt.

Coastal Tanker Work Drives MMS Business

The coastal tanker industry has been one of MMS Shiprepair’s (Hull) largest contributors during recent weeks, ships including Everard’s 3,778 dwt Asperity, and 3,778 dwt Audacity. The offshore industry has also been a contributor - the 3,115 dwt Safe Truck, this is owned by Sea Truck Ltd, Sutton UK and the 1,336 dwt Toisa Crest, owned by Toisa Ltd, in Hamilton. Also recently at the yard is the 1,308 dwt salvage tug Anglian Monarch this vessel is owned by Klyne Marine Services Ltd, Lowestoft and two dredgers - the 5,872 dwt Arco Beck, owned by Hanson Civil & Marine Ltd, Southampton and the 197 grt Sea Horse, which is owned by Crowley Marine Services Inc, Seattle. Recent projects have involved the 1,370 dwt Trobo, which is owned by Paul Wilson & Co.

Action Eliminates Threat of Spill

NRC Contractors, Adam Wilkison, Collin Potts and Ron Broadway, put up a barrier of think plastic to prevent fuel from escaping the containment area around a damaged tank at the BP Harbor Island Seattle Terminal Dec. 6. Hill Joins Crowley

Crowley Maritime Corporation announced that Bill Hill has joined the company's energy and marine services group in Anchorage as director of business development. In this role, he will have responsibility for the sales and operation of the North Slope businesses and will work to develop additional opportunities in Alaska as well as the Canadian and Russian Arctic.
