China Cruising: Carnival Corp Launches China JV

Fincantieri to Build a Cruise Ship for Cunard
Fincantieri and Carnival Corporation & plc announced today the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MoA) for the construction of one next-generation cruise ship for luxury brand Cunard. Princess Cruises Takes Ship Delivery from Fincantieri
Majestic Princess, the third Royal Princess class cruise ship built by Fincantieri for ship owner Princess Cruises, was delivered at the Monfalcone shipyard in Italy. Princess Cruises, a Carnival Group brand, will deploy the new vessel on the Chinese market. Carnival Orders Two Cruise Ships for China
Fincantieri, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) and Carnival Corporation & plc signed a binding Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the construction of two cruise ships, with an option for additional four, the first units of the kind ever built in China for the Chinese market. The parties signed the MoA on behalf of the joint venture between Fincantieri and CSSC Cruise Technology Development Co., Ltd (CCTD), of the joint venture between Carnival Corporation and CSSC, and of the shipyard Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd (SWS).
Carnival to Build Two New Cruise Ships with Fincantieri
Two new ships to be built for company’s Holland America Line and Princess Cruises brands will help meet growing demand for cruise vacations and enhance the fleet. Carnival Corporation & plc announced that it has signed a memorandum of agreement with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri S.p.A. to build two new cruise ships with final contracts expected to be executed in early 2017. Fincantieri Bags 5 Cruise Ships Order from Carnival
Following on a March 2015 agreement and a memorandum of agreement last December, Fincantieri, a leader in cruise ship design and construction, and Carnival Corporation & plc, the world’s largest cruise company, have finalized contracts for the construction of five next-generation passenger ships. Cruise Ship Sails from US tor Cuba for First Time in 50 Years
A cruise ship is sailing to Cuba from the U.S. for the first time in more than 50 years. The Bermuda-flagged Adonia sailed from the port of Miami carrying some 700 passengers on Sunday. Cruise firm Carnival's Adonia left Miami bound for Havana and will also visit the ports of Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba on the seven-day trip. “To be a part of truly making history and preparing for an even more positive future for everyone is one of the greatest honors any company can have,” Carnival Corporation chief executive Arnold Donald said.

Cruise ship MV Adonia sailed into Havana this morning, completing the first leg of its historic inaugural voyage to Cuba that began on May 1, 2016, from Miami, marking the first time in over 50 years that a U.S. cruise line has sailed from the U.S. to Cuba. The Bermuda-flagged ship Adonia, operated by U.S. based Fathom, the 10th and newest brand of Carnival Corporation & plc., was greeted in the Port of Havana by fanfare and a festive celebration. Carnival Orders Two Ships from Meyer Turku
Meyer Turku (Finland) has signed a memorandum of agreement with the world’s largest cruise ship operator Carnival Corporation & plc for two new, 180 000 GT, cruise ships. The Ships will be built for Carnival Cruise Lines with delivery dates expected in 2020 and 2022. With the same agreement, Carnival Corporation & plc also orders one 180 000 GT cruise ship from Meyer Werft (Germany) for P&O Cruises, to be delivered in 2020. All three ships will be Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) powered and will be based on the next-generation “green cruising” ship design developed with Carnival Corporation.
