JRC Says Its Wave Analysis Tool Helps Prevent Container Spills

Thousands of containers have been lost by ships in heavy weather conditions over recent months, impacting the ocean environment and adding a large extra cost expense for shipping companies.Among many factors leading to the problem is heavy rolling and pitching of the ship that causes containers to lose their stability and fall overboard. Marine electronics company JRC said its navigational radar JMR-7200/9200 includes a Wave Analysis function made available through a software upgrade.The JRC Radar Wave Analysis function is developed to measure wave height, direction and length.

Padbury Shares Dive as Aussie Port Deal Scrapped

Shares in Australia's Padbury Mining Ltd plunged as trading in the stock resumed after its plans for a deal to build a $6.5 billion iron ore port and rail network collapsed within a month of being announced. Padbury, a small explorer, surprised markets on April 11 when it said it had lined up more than $6 billion in funding from unnamed investors to build an iron ore port and rail line in Western Australia, a project that had been stuck on the drawing board for two decades. Padbury's announcement triggered a spike in its shares and the Australian Securities Exchange slammed a halt on trading until the company provided more details on the deal.

JRC Debuts New Radar Series

JRC introduced the JMA-5300 series radars; the first of a new line of high performance radars built around a new proprietary JRC ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) architecture. These new systems use processors that are specifically designed to enable parallel processing using multiple ASIC’s for lightning fast operation of every feature. The JMA-5300 series will be available in five power outputs; 10kW, 25kW, 50kW X-Band plus 30kW and 60kW S-band, with antenna arrays of 6ft, 7ft or 9ft for X-Band and 8ft or 12ft for S-Band. Complimenting the available choices in output power, the JMA-5300 series has a long list of options that allows these systems to be configured to meet the exact needs of every application.
