SEACOR Marine Upgrades PSV with Hybrid Battery Power System

U.S.-based SEACOR Marine has completed the installation of a hybrid power system on its platform supply vessel (PSV) SEACOR Yangtze.Beginning in February 2024 in Norway, Kongsberg Maritime started the upgrade of the UT771 CDL SEACOR Yangtze with the Deckhouse Energy Storage System.The installation of the system has been completed, SEACOR Marine informed on April 4, 2024, adding to its fleet of hybrid battery-powered PSVs.To remind, SEACOR Marine announced it will convert four other of its PSVs to battery hybrid power in a move to enhance efficiency and slash emissions.The Houston-headquartered

TotalEnergies Awards New Contracts to Siem PSV Pair in Brazil

Norwegian shipowner Siem Offshore has secured new contracts with TotalEnergies for two of its platform supply vessels (PSV) for work offshore Brazil.The contracts are for Siem Giant and Siem Atlas PSVs.The new duration for Siem Giant is three years firm with options up to four more years.For Siem Atlas, the new duration is nine months firm with options until the end of the second quarter in 2027.Both vessels will start the contracts in June 2024 in direct continuation of present contracts…

Glamox to Light Up PGS’ Seismic Vessels

SEACOR to Convert Four PSVs to Battery Hybrid Power

SEACOR Marine announced it will convert four of its platform supply vessels (PSV) to battery hybrid power in a move to enhance efficiency and slash emissions.The Houston-headquartered marine transportation firm said on Thursday it has ordered containerized energy storage systems (ESS) from Norway's Kongsberg Maritime for install aboard SEACOR Ohio, SEACOR Alps, SEACOR Andes and SEACOR Atlas.The four 278.4-foot-long PSVs are all of Kongsberg Maritime's UT771 CDL design and were built in China from 2018 to 2020.

Seaspan Takes Delivery of New 15,500 TEU Vessel

Seaspan Corporation has taken delivery of Maersk Cleveland, the second of six new SAVER 15,500 TEU series vessels.The ship was delivered from China's Jiangnan Shipyard on November 15.Seaspan, a wholly owned subsidiary of Atlas Corp., announced contracts to build the six ships in March 2021 as part of a raft of new shipbuilding orders.Upon completion, each vessel will enter long-term charters with global liner customers.The series' first vessel, Maersk Charleston, was delivered earlier this year. The series' remaining ships are scheduled for delivery through mid-2024.

Maritime Partners Announces $235.3 Million Securitization

Maritime Partners, a provider of maritime financing solutions primarily focused on Jones Act vessels, has announced the successful completion of the inaugural capital markets issuance of vessel asset-backed securities (ABS) by MP 2023 LLC, its controlled affiliate. This transaction was the first ABS issuance composed entirely of inland marine vessels.MP 2023 LLC issued an aggregate principal amount of $235.3 million of its MP 2023-1, Class A Notes, with a coupon of 7.167% over an expected 7-year term.

WTIVs have always been fuel-hungry. Now they are being tasked with installations that are further, deeper and heavier.Offshore wind farms continue their march into deeper water, further from shore, with turbines that can now reach more than 270 meters high with blades 120 meters long. Designers and OEMs are pushing efficiency to new levels to contain OPEX on the new-generation jack-up WTIVs taking them up there.Danish ship design firm Knud E. Singapore-based shipbuilder Sembcorp Marine has delivered Deepwater Titan, the world’s second 8th-generation drillship, to Transocean subsidiary Triton Titan GmBH.Deepwater Titan is the second of two new 8th-generation drillships constructed by Sembcorp Marine based on the group’s Jurong Espadon 3T design. World's First 8th Generation Drillship Starts Maiden Contract

Offshore drilling company Transocean said Thursday that its Deepwater Atlas, the world's first 8th generation drillship, had started its first contract.The offshore drilling rig, delivered by Singapore's Sembcorp Marine in June, is under a contract with Beacon Offshore Energy in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.The Deepwater Atlas is the first of two ultra-deepwater drillships based on the Sembcorp Marine's Jurong Espadon 3T design. The second, also owned by Transocean, is the Deepwater Titan.The Deepwater Atlas has a hook-load lifting capacity of three million pounds.

MOVE Sets Up Shipping Route to Link NZ Ports to Tasmania and Australia’s East Coast

New Zealand-based transport and logistics group, MOVE Logistics Group Limited has set up its first trans-Tasman shipping line, scheduled for Q4 2022, as part of its new Oceans business.In line with this, MOVE has entered an agreement to acquire a vessel, the Atlas Wind, out of Europe. It is expected that the acquisition will be settled in October 2022. The Atlas Wind can carry 350 containers or the equivalent of 5,000 tonnes of bulk cargo. Atlas Receives $3.64 Billion Takeover Offer from Poseidon

TotalEnergies Extends Siem PSV Pair in Brazil

Norwegian shipowner Siem Offshore said it has secured contract extensions for two of its platform supply vessels (PSV) working for TotalEnergies offshore Brazil.Total E&P do Brazil has declared the first of two options for the PSVs Siem Atlas and Siem Giant, and both vessels are now firm until June 2023.Siem Atlas and Siem Giant are 4,700 dwt, 87.9-meter-long STX PSV 4700 vessels built in 2013 and 2014 respectively.

Singapore-based shipbuilder Sembcorp Marine has delivered the world's first 8th generation drillship, the Deepwater Atlas, to its owner Transocean.The Deepwater Atlas is the first of two ultra-deepwater drillships based on the Sembcorp Marine's Jurong Espadon 3T design.
