L-3 Chosen By Samsung

L-3 Communications' Aviation Recorders division has been selected by Samsung Heavy Industries as the exclusive source supplier of hardened voyage recorders (HVR) for new production ships manufactured by Samsung. The agreement also provides L-3 with the option to offer its HVR to Samsung for ship retrofit or modernization projects. The contract calls for L-3 to provide its 12-hour, solid state HVR and Audio Acquisition and Microphone Mixer (AAMM) for inclusion in Samsung's Voyage Date Recorder and NARU 2000 Integrated Navigation System. L-3's HVR records voice, radar, radio and shipboard performance data on a solid-state memory in a crash-protected capsule.
