Awilco Appoints New CEO

UK-based drilling contractor Awilco Drilling announced that tha appointment of  Jens Berge as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. Berge will succeed Jon Oliver Bryce."The Board would like to thank Jon Oliver Bryce for his nine years as Awilco Drilling's CEO. At the same time, we are very pleased to announce that Jens Berge has accepted to take over the CEO position" says Sigurd E. Thorvildsen, Chairman of the Board of Awilco Drilling PLC.Jens Berge will assume his new position no later than 4 June 2019. In the meantime the Board has appointed Roddy Smith, Chief Operating Officer, as interim CEO.Jens Berge is a Norwegian citizen. He has served as Chief Operating Officer at Prosafe SE since November 2017. Previously he worked at A.P.

Kongsberg to help outfit Awilco Rig

Kongsberg Maritime has been selected by global offshore and marine group Keppel Offshore & Marine to provide an extensive and integrated technology delivery for a new semi-submersible drilling rig ordered by UK-based drilling contractor Awilco Drilling PLC. The contract is valued at around $18 million. Based on the Moss Maritime CS60 ECO MW design, Awilco Drilling’s new rig is designed for harsh environment use, and will be equipped and certified for drilling on the Norwegian Continental Shelf…

Awilco Drilling Signs Contract With Shell

Aberdeen-based Awilco Drilling said today that it had tied up a contract with Shell UK for the decommissioning of 18 wells. "Awilco Drilling PLC is pleased to confirm that a contract has been signed with Shell UK Limited for the provision of WilPhoenix for a decommissioning program of 18 firm wells plus options totalling a further 8 wells," said a press release from the company. The firm 18 well program has an estimated duration of 330 days and is scheduled to commence around 1 September 2018. The contract value for the firm term is estimated at USD 38.3 million. WilPhoenix is one of Awilco Drilling's two Enhanced Pacesetter semi-submersibles and is equipped for drilling in water depths up to 1,200 ft.

Keppel Bags Awilco's Semi-submersible Rig Order

Following the Letter of Intent signed by Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Keppel FELS Limited, with Awilco Drilling PLC, Keppel has secured the contract to construct a mid-water semisubmersible (semi) drilling rig for harsh environment use worth about $425 million. As part of the transaction, Awilco has independent options to order up to another three similar rigs to be exercised within 12, 24 and 36 months respectively. The prices of the three additional rigs are subject to cost adjustments and will only be finalised and announced separately if and when the options are exercised. Scheduled for completion in 1Q 2021, the rig will be built to Moss Maritime's CS60 ECO MW design.
