Ramping up Warship Production, Shipbuilder to Add 1000 Jobs

Babcock Tallies Contract to Refit UK Nuclear Submarine

Babcock Wins £45 Million Contract to Maintain UK Research Vessels

The U.K. has awarded Babcock International’s Rosyth shipyard a £45 million (approx. US$56.6 million) contract to maintain its fleet of three scientific research vessels.The initial three-year contract, announced by U.K. Industry and Maritime Minister Nusrat Ghani earlier this month, will see the large oceanographic and polar research vessels RRS Sir David Attenborough, RRS Discovery and RRS James Cook dock at Babcock’s state-of-the-art facilities in Rosyth, Scotland, for programmed maintenance and upgrade work.

Babcock Begins First Type 23 Post-LIFEX Upkeep

Defense company Babcock International has started a post-life extension (LIFEX) on the U.K. Royal Navy’s Type 23 frigate HMS Argyll at Babcock Devonport’s facility. Babcock Delivers World's Largest LNG Bunker Supply Vessel

Babcock International is celebrating the completion of its ‘first of its kind’ and the world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunker supply vessel, M.V. Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM), a leading global maritime services company, and Babcock International Group, the UK’s leading engineering support services company, are collaborating to develop a ground-breaking Gas Supply Vessel (GSV). The 7,500m³ vessel, which will be used for the LNG fuelling of ships, including ferries, containers, cruise vessels and other shore-based gas consumers in the Baltic Sea, is the first vessel of its kind to utilise Babcock’s market leading FGSV0 technology. In support of the Vine Trusts’ latest project in the Peruvian Amazon, Ships Electronic Services (SES) will provide and install a comprehensive navigation and communications system aboard the Trusts’ new medical ship MV Forth Hope. Built by David Abels in Bristol the 35 meter vessel has been fitted out to the Trusts’ specification by Babcock International Group in Rosyth and will now be completed with a sophisticated electronics navigation and communication system developed by SES for her departure in the first half of July.
