SECNAV Visits Bayonne Dry Dock

Earlier this week, Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) Carlos Del Toro along with U.S. Representatives Rob Menendez and Mikie Sherrill visited to Bayonne Dry Dock & Repair Corp. (BDD).As the U.S. places renewed emphasis on navy shipbuilding and ship repair, the SECNAV has made it a point to visit to naval bases, shipyards, depots, training ranges, tarmacs, and runways worldwide to witnessed firsthand the progress being made toward improving training, readiness, and modernization of the fleet and force.BDD has provided repair services to vessels ranging from small tugboats to U.S.

US Shipyards Investing to Add Serious Lifting Power

Bayonne Dry Dock Christens New Mobile Boat Hoist

Bayonne Dry Dock & Repair Corp held a christening ceremony on December 9 for its new mobile boat hauler, dedicated in honor of Christopher Edward Cranston, a NYPD Detective who died of a 9/11-related illness in July 2019.The late Staten Island native—a first-responder during and in the aftermath of the September 11 World Trade Center attacks—was the brother of the Bayonne, N.J. ship repair yard’s president, Mike Cranston, who said the new lift is a fitting tribute to someone who always prioritized family and service.

Bayonne Dry Dock & Repair Joins Green Marine

Bayonne Dry Dock & Repair Corp., a full-service ship repair yard located in the Port Jersey area of New York/New Jersey harbor, is the newest participant in Green Marine – a voluntary environmental certification program for North America’s maritime industry.To complete Green Marine’s certification, the Bayonne Dry Dock & Repair Corp. will assess its environmental performance based on the program’s applicable indicators, which address air pollutants and greenhouse gases, spill prevention, waste management, and community impacts. The annual certification process is rigorous and transparent, with the individual performance of each participant independently verified every two years.

Port, Government Officials Visit Bayonne Dry Dock

Bayonne Dry Dock and Repair Corporation President Michael Cranston held a press conference on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, on the top side of Bayonne Dry Dock, to highlight the economic and environmental punch of the dry docking business on the Port of New York and New Jersey and its positive impacts on homeland security. Following the press conference, Cranston led a tour of the facility where the U.S.N.S. Watson, a military ship that carries supplies to troops overseas, is currently undergoing repairs.
