Russia Pledges More Oil Data to Ship Trackers

Nord Stream 2 Pipeline Suspension Could be Short-lived

Contract award for OOSV

Seaspan Shipyards (Seaspan) has awarded BCS Automation Ltd. (BCS) a contract for work on the Government of Canada’s new Offshore Oceanographic Science Vessel (OOSV).BCS has been in operation for 30 years and specializes in automated systems for the marine, offshore and cement industries. BCS represents one of almost 80 Ontario suppliers to date that Seaspan is working with to meet its commitments under the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS).BCS will supply a ship control and monitoring system for the OOSV.

China Shipbuilders to Forefront in Active Dry Bulk Sector

Another week of ordering across the sizes in the dry bulk market, say Clarkson Hellas in their latest S+P Weekly Bulletin, with orders to report from Ultramax up to Capesizes vessels. Beihai are understood to have taken an order for one firm plus one option 250,000 DWT VLOC from Sincere Navigation Corporation Enterprises with delivery of the firm vessel in 2016. Beihai have also signed one firm plus one option 180,000 DWT Capesize from Bao-Island Enterprises for 2016 delivery for the firm unit.

BCS Marine for the Queen of Coquitlam

Mill Log Wilson Equipment Ltd. and its Service Dealer, CANnav Marine Solutions, announced that BCS Marine Hydraulic Steering Components has been chosen by BC Ferries for the Queen of Coquitlam, which is currently back in service after a brief stay at Deas dock for upgrades and repairs. “My group has developed the solution that enables direct replacement of obsolete large displacement helm pumps with the BCS product,” said Mike Trowski, President, CANnav Marine Systems. BCS is a company in the manufacturing and worldwide distribution of high quality marine equipment, established in 1956, BCS has a line of Marine Steering Components to include helm pumps, DC pump sets, cylinders, and related components for both pleasure and heavy-duty commercial vessels.

LevelSeas Seeks Funds From Software Company

Internet shipbrokerage Levelseas is seeking to recoup payments from a sacked software developer, a move that illustrates the frustration many Internet start-ups have suffered in targeting the complex shipping industry. "The key to the issue is that they say the product works and we say it doesn't," Levelseas COO Kevin O'Connor said. "At the end of February we realized that CSC was unusable and we haven't used a single line of specification... or a single code," he added. CSC was unavailable to comment on Tuesday. Levelseas took the development of the world's first Internet ship-brokerage in-house in February and launched the finished product at the start of last month.
