BMT Isis Renamed BMT Cadence

BMT Isis, a subsidiary of international design, engineering and risk management consultancy BMT Group, has announced a name change effective immediately; the company will now take the name BMT Cadence. “Given recent global events, we recognize the sensitivities around any organization using the name Isis and we hope that the name change will serve as clear affirmation of BMT’s support to our clients operating within U.K. and global defense markets and the front-line forces that we collectively serve,”   explained Mike Prince, Managing Director of BMT Cadence.

BMT Isis to Support NATO Submarine Rescue System

BMT Isis (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, has announced that it will provide safety and environmental support for JFD’s five-year contract with the UK Ministry of Defence for the provision of the NATO Submarine Rescue System (NSRS). JFD, which was formed by the merger of James Fisher Defence and Divex in 2014, has been awarded the five-year contract which includes options through to 2023 and encompasses all aspects of operation and through-life-support. The service will be managed by JFD’s Submarine Escape and Rescue team in parallel with existing similar services for Australia and Singapore. Engineering and technical support will be provided by JFD’s Engineering Support Cell.

RINA Launches Engineers Development Programme

The Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) is delighted to announce the first of a portfolio of soft skills courses tailored to the needs of engineers called Effective Presentations and Networking which will take place on July 29th 2015 at RINA headquarters in London. This one day course introduces engineers from all disciplines to the fundamentals of how to communicate in business effectively, with a specific focus on customer and colleague engagement through enhanced presentation and networking skills. The course was developed following a survey of RINA members asking them if such training would be useful to them and their teams and what learning outcomes they would look for. It has been shaped by survey feedback and the subsequent pilot run at RINA headquarters.

BMT Defense Applies NAPA Software in New Vessel Design

Naval design and engineering company BMT Defense Services Ltd. included a software package created by maritime software house NAPA during the design process for the new logistics and support vessel (LSV) ordered by the Norwegian Defense Logistics Organization (NDLO). Naval architects have applied NAPA for Design to the vessel's stability and hydrodynamics modeling to produce a compartmentation model that can provide hull form throughout the design process to production. The model will support the lifetime eco-efficiency of the vessel, either in combination with NAPA for Operations systems and the NAPA Loading Computer, or as a standalone system that provides vital information on the vessel when it cannot be observed.

BMT Supports Port of Liverpool’s New Container Terminal Project

BMT has completed a series of studies for the Port of Liverpool’s new Seaforth Liverpool 2 (L2) Container Terminal Construction, which promises to bring 5,000 new jobs to the area. The new facility will provide capability for a further half a million containers, taking its total annual capacity to approximately two million TEUs. BMT subsidiary companies, BMT ARGOSS and BMT Isis were commissioned by Peel Ports to carry out a number of specialist studies to identify and assess the associated impacts of introducing larger vessels of up to 13,500 TEU to the proposed L2 development.

BMT Awarded NDLO Ship Design Contract

BMT Defence Services Ltd , a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, has announced that it has been confirmed as design contractor for the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation ’s (NDLO) logistics and support vessel (LSV), supported by sister companies BMT Reliability Consultants Ltd and BMT Isis Ltd. The auxiliary vessel, designed to cover a multitude of roles and to be built by DSME in their Okpo yard, will measure 180 metres in length, 26 metres in beam, and have a displacement of over 26,000tonnes.

BMT Completes Berth Capacity Study

BMT Isis (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group, the international engineering, maritime and risk management consultancy, has recently completed a berth capacity study for Knauf ahead of significant planned investment for its jetty located on the Swale in the south east of England. The Grovehurst Jetty near Ridham Dock is operated by Knauf to import and transport gypsum to its factory in Sittingbourne, Kent where the mineral is used to produce plasterboard. In a bid to assess the feasibility, identify the effects and estimate the likely costs of changes to the gypsum import process, Knauf turned to BMT for a transparent and impartial assessment.

BMT Isis Validates Approach Channel Design for New Aircraft Carriers
