Orsel Takes the Helm as ECSA's First Female President

Karin Orsel has been appointed the first female President ever in the history of the European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA), starting on January 1, 2024 for a two-year term, with Mikki Koskinen joining as the new Vice-President. Guy Platten New Secretary-General of ICS

The Board of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) announced the appointment of Guy Platten to the role of Secretary General, after almost five years in the UK Chamber of Shipping. "Following an extensive and rigorous selection procedure, the Board of ICS is delighted to announce the appointment of Guy Platten to the role of Secretary General," said a press release. Esben Poulsson, ICS Chairman said: “This proved a difficult decision for us, as we interviewed several strong candidates. However, the decision to appoint Guy was taken unanimously by the Board. He will bring with him a broad range of skills including time at sea, demonstrable commercial success, and association work illustrated by his current successful tenure at the U.K. Chamber of Shipping.

FSL Trust Appoint Esben Poulson Independent Director

FSL Trust Management Pte. Ltd. (“FSLTM”), as Trustee- Manager of First Ship Lease Trust (“FSL Trust” ) informs it has appointed Esben Sofren Poulsson as Non-Executive Independent Director of FSLTM, effective from 30 September 2014. He has been a significant contributor in positioning Singapore as a world class maritime center, acting as an advisor to a number of key trade associations and related bodies in Singapore. Shipping Experts to Discuss Arctic Opportunities

Minister Trond Giske, Secretary General Koji Sekimizu, Chairman Masamichi Morooka and Director General Sturla Henriksen will meet the press at on Wednesday, June 5 at 2 p.m. to discuss at a major Summit in Oslo, where the Board of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) will meet with political leaders from major shipping nations and the Secretary General of the United Nations’ International Maritime Organization (IMO) to discuss sustainability and shipping in the Arctic. The objective is to create a dynamic arena for dialogue between policy makers and the shipping industry.
