Boskalis: One Dead, Five Sick on FPSO

Dutch dredging and offshore contractor Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has confirmed that one contract worker is dead and five were seriously injured after consuming a ‘toxic’ cleaning liquid on board a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel destined for Brazil.The incident occurred earlier this week on board an FPSO which is currently in transit between China and Brazil, towed by the Vanguard semi-submersible heavy lift ship.Six persons employed by the designated contractor, all with the Brazilian nationality, illegally consumed a cleaning liquid found on board of the FPSO, it said."This liquid is a substance customarily used for degreasing purposes, presumably containing a mixture of ethanol and the severely toxic methanol.

Boskalis Bags El Salvador FSRU Gig

Dutch dredging, offshore and heavylift company Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has been awarded a major contract to connect an offshore Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU)  to an onshore power plant in El Salvador.The contract was awarded by Energia del Pacifico (EDP), a 378-MW liquefied natural gas (LNG)-to-power infrastructure project at the Port of Acajutla, El Salvador. The project will commence early 2020 and is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2021.‎The project entails the construction of a two-kilometer-long gas pipeline connection from the onshore power plant to an offshore FSRU including the mooring and hook-up.

Boskalis Bags Pasay Reclamation Project

Dutch dredging and heavylift company Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) has received the Provisional Letter of Acceptance for the Design and Construction contract for the Pasay Reclamation Development Project in Manila Bay, Philippines in cooperation with CHEC from China.The award was made by the publicly listed company SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SMPHI), one of the largest property developers in Southeast Asia. The development will create a new commercial and residential area in a densely populated part of Manila. The project has an estimated value of approximately USD 720 million (EUR 650 million) of which Boskalis’ share amounts to approximately EUR 325 million.Peter Berdowski, Boskalis CEO said: “We are delighted with the award of this substantial contract from SMPHI.

Boskalis Wins Contracts for $120Mln

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has secured multiple heavy marine transport services contracts with a combined value of about $120 million.The execution of the majority of projects is scheduled to take place in 2021 and 2022.Following last year’s transportation of a sizable box-shaped FPSO, Boskalis secured a contract to transport a similar FPSO from China to Brazil.With a weight exceeding 91,000 tons this marks another record-breaking transport for the BOKA Vanguard, which is scheduled to commence at the end of 2019.Boskalis also secured a contract for the transportation of various large LNG modules from a fabrication yard in China to Russia.

Boskalis Bags Dredging Contract in Maldives

Dutch dredging company Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has won a contract by the Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure, Republic of Maldives, in relation to the development of Gulhifalhu.The value of the contract is estimated at approximately EUR 45 million (US$50 million).The dredging activities are due to commence in the fourth quarter of 2019 and are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2020.The development of Gulhifalhu, located about four kilometers from the country’s capital Malé, forms part of the Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure’s strategic plan to improve and develop the port infrastructure and will serve as a climate adaptive solution…

Dutch dredging company Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has been awarded the contract for the seabed intervention and shore crossing activities for Woodside’s proposed Scarborough export gas pipeline in northwest Australia.The contract awarded by Woodside Energy Ltd. Boskalis Floating Dock to Fix Carnival Vista

Florida-headquartered Carnival Cruise Line has contracted the Dutch marine engineering company Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. to lift its cruise ship Carnival Vista out of the water onto the world’s largest heavy lift ship, Boka Vanguard, and transport it to Grand Bahama shipyard for a dry docking operation.The operation, the first of its kind in the world, will take place in the coming weeks in Freeport, Bahamas. The BOKA Vanguard is the world’s largest semi-submersible ship uniquely positioned to lift and transport extremely heavy cargoes in a dry and safe manner.Carnival Vista is the second largest cruise ship in the Carnival fleet with a capacity of nearly 4,000 passengers and a length in excess of 300 meters.

Boskalis Wins $45M Channel Widening Deal

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) won a contract for the widening of the Port Adelaide Outer Harbor shipping channel in Australia. The project was awarded by port owner and operator Flinders Ports, and the contract is worth approximately $45m.Boskalis will widen the shipping channel by 40 meters to 170 meters and extend the turning basin to accommodate the larger and more efficient Post Panamax container ships which are increasingly dominating global containerized cargo transport. The expanded channel will also accommodate larger cruise ships.An estimated amount of 1.5 million cubic meters of mainly sand and clay material will be removed with a trailing suction hopper dredger and a large backhoe dredger. Boskalis Wins Subsea Work in the Middle East

Boskalis Wins Scottish Offshore Windfarm Installation Contract

Dutch dredging and offshore contractor Royal Boskalis Westminster NV has signed an exclusive Pre-Construction Agreement (PCA) for the Inch Cape offshore wind farm project.According to the Dutch marine outfit, the award was made by Inch Cape Offshore Limited (ICOL), a subsidiary of Red Rock Power Ltd. The project scope includes the transportation and installation of the wind turbine foundations, the offshore substation and cables.The award of the contract is subject to a successful bid by ICOL in the next UK Contracts for Difference auction (mid 2019) and financial close (second half of 2020). The contract size, excluding procurement, is expected to exceed EUR 200 million.Boskalis will in the coming months assist with the further engineering and design of the project.

Boskalis Nominates van Noort as New CFO

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has nominated Carlo van Noort to be appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Boskalis at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) in May 2019. The term of the current CFO, Hans Kamps, expires on the date of that same AGM.van Noort is currently financial director of Boskalis Nederland. He has held various finance positions within the three divisions of the Group over the last 12 years and is currently financial director of Boskalis Nederland. Following his accounting and auditing degree from Nyenrode Business University, van Noort worked as an auditor with EY followed by finance positions at among others ING Real Estate and DHL Express.

Dutch dredging and offshore contractor Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. said it will run its vessels on a biofuel blend while working on a project to install the export cable to the Borssele offshore wind farm.The Borssele Alpha project is being executed on behalf of TenneT and is aimed at connecting the Borssele offshore grid with the Dutch high-voltage grid.During this project, Boskalis will run its vessels on a biofuel blend of up to 30 percent. Boskalis Bags New Contracts

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) has acquired a sizable logistical management transport contract and has received a letter of award for the transport and float-over installation of an offshore platform with a combined contract value of approximately USD 65 million. The global services provider operating in the dredging, maritime infrastructure and maritime services sectors said that the logistical management contract scope is for the transportation of a large number of modules from a fabrication yard in Asia to a plant being developed in North America. The contract ties up two high-end open-stern heavy transport vessels for approximately 475 vessel days each commencing late 2019.

SMIT Salvage Bags US Navy Contracts

SMIT Salvage has acquired two five-year marine salvage contracts to serve as the exclusive marine salvage and engineering support contractor for the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), the division of the U.S. Navy responsible for engineering, building, buying and maintaining Navy ships and submarines.The Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. subsidiary will provide the U.S. Navy with marine salvage, salvage-related towing, ocean engineering and towage services in the event of an emergency or incident in two of the three geographic zones in the world as defined by the U.S. Navy.SMIT Salvage held a contract for one zone covering the area between the Suez Canal and the international date line for a number of periods totaling more than 30 years, which it was able to renew.

Rotterdam Begins Deepening of New Waterway

Minister Cora van Nieuwenhuizen of Infrastructure and Water Management and Ronald Paul (COO Port of Rotterdam Authority) gave the official go-ahead for the deepening of the Nieuwe Waterweg and the Botlek. Rijkswaterstaat and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have joined forces to ensure that sea-going vessels with a draught of 15 metres can also reach the Botlek port. The initiation of the project took place in FutureLand, the information centre about the port of Rotterdam on the Maasvlakte. Boskalis to Build Singapore's First Polder

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. said it has received a Letter of Award from the Housing & Development Board of Singapore for the development of a polder at the north western tip of Pulau Tekong. The contract value for the joint venture with Penta Ocean Construction Company is approximately EUR 800 million of which Boskalis' share is approximately EUR 400 million. Boskalis and its partner will be responsible for building the required dike closures and reinforcement of the existing dike to create a 10 kilometers long dike, the drainage of the reclamation area and extensive dry earthmoving activities to create Singapore's first polder.
