Brunswick Sets New Records at FLIBS

Brunswick Corporation has announced that its Sea Ray, Boston Whaler and Mercury Marine brands have set multiple records during the 2019 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show. Sea Ray, which launched an all-new 320 Sundancer Coupe at Ft. Lauderdale, saw a massive 80 percent increase in show sales from a year ago, demonstrating the success of its reinvention strategy. Boston Whaler continues to benefit from significant year-over-year sales growth in September and October, leading to a very successful Ft.

Brunswick: Ramping up Quality for the Long Haul

As Brunswick Commercial & Government Products expands its capabilities and product line, the Florida-based boatbuilder is positioned to safely provide increased efficiencies, and an expanded, multi-mission product line. When Brunswick Commercial & Government Products (BCGP) broke ground on a facility expansion at the company’s Florida headquarters in early May, it served notice that this well-known boatbuilder had ramped up both its delivery capabilities, and an expanded array of new hulls. With a new large-boat building that includes added manufacturing space and other facility improvements, the 10,500-square-foot facility increases the company’s manufacturing capacity by 50 percent.

BCGP Appoints Bon Fleur as General Manager

Brunswick Commercial & Government Products (BCGP) has announced Erik Bon Fleur as its new general manager. In this role, Bon Fleur will be responsible for day-to-day operations and business activities, reporting to Boston Whaler Group President, Nick Stickler. Prior to joining the BCGP team, Bon Fleur served in various other roles inside BCGP’s parent company, Brunswick Corporation, including continuous improvement manager for Boston Whaler, and most recently director of operations for Thunder Jet, an aluminum boat builder in Washington state.

Brunswick Donates to Harvey Relief Efforts

Brunswick Commercial & Government Products (BCGP) said it has donated three boats to the Hurricane Harvey disaster relief efforts in Texas. The 4.7-meter inflatable boats will be operated by first responders and local law enforcement in Texas to assist in search and rescue missions where flooding has forced thousands from their homes. "Our hearts and full support go out to the communities impacted by Hurricane Harvey," said Boston Whaler President, Nick Stickler.

Hotz Joins National Maritime Law Enforcement Academy

Thirty-year marine industry veteran John R. Hotz has accepted the position as the Assistant Director at the National Maritime Law Enforcement Academy (NMLEA), which together with its International Maritime Law Enforcement Academy (IMLEA) provides education, consulting services, resources and training for law enforcement officers, public safety professionals, military members, ports and waterside critical infrastructure personnel. Following a vision and leadership of Admiral Siler, a former U.S. Coast Guard Commandant, the not for profit NMLEA was established in 2000 to fill a capabilities gap that continues to effect law enforcement and emergency response operations on the water all across America. NMLEA has offices in Washington, D.C. and Tallahassee, Fla.

Marine Jet Power Names Gibson Americas Sales Director

Marine Jet Power, Inc. (MJP) has hired Philip Gibson as Director of Sales, responsible for sales and business development efforts in North, South and Central America. Gibson brings to the role more than 30 years’ military maritime experience, having most recently served as a Regional Sales Manager for Brunswick Commercial & Government Products (Boston Whaler). He retired from the U.S. Navy in 2005 with the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer, where he served as a U.S. Navy SEAL and advisor to the international military and police forces for riverine and counter-drug operations.

Brunswick Expanding Its Boat Building Facility

Brunswick Commercial & Government Products (BCGP) has officially broken ground on a facility expansion at the company's Edgewater, Fla. headquarters. The addition includes a new large-boat building with added manufacturing space and other facility improvements. The new 10,500-square-foot facility will be located on the east side of the commercial boats manufacturing campus and will increase the company's manufacturing capacity by 50 percent. "Today, by breaking ground on the BCGP facility expansion, we are greatly increasing our capabilities," said Boston Whaler Group President Nick Stickler.

Executive Leadership Changes at Brunswick

Boston Whaler President Nick Stickler has assumed temporary day-to-day leadership at Brunswick Commercial & Government Products (BCGP) following the departure of BCGP General Manager Jennifer Butera and Director of Sales Jeremy Davis.   The company said it is currently evaluating potential candidates for both positions, and plans announce the successors in the coming weeks.

Brunswick Wins $72 Mln Order from US Southern Command

Brunswick Commercial & Government Products (BCGP) said it has been awarded a multi-year, multi-unit contract valued at $72 million. The single-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract is for both 32-foot and 37-foot Boston Whaler Justice boats and will include spare parts, maintenance and training support for The United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) area of responsibility, which includes Central America, South America and Caribbean nations. BCGP was awarded the initial contract for Boston Whaler Justice boats to support the SOUTHCOM in 2011.

NASBLA Expands Patrol Edition Vessel Offering

Press Release -- The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) Enforcement & Training Committee voted to expand its Patrol Edition Boat Program to include additional models by Brunswick Commercial and Government Products (BCGP). Designed by law enforcement for law enforcement, the NASBLA Patrol Edition vessels are selected by the committee to meet the demands of maritime first responders and boating safety officers. Originally launched at last year's annual NASBLA conference in Bar Harbor, Maine, the first vessel in the program was a 21-foot Boston Whaler Guardian model, which was delivered to the Maine Department of Marine Resources, Bureau of Marine Patrol.

Sunken 48-foot Sports Fisher Vessel Salvaged

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) monitored the salvage of the sunken  Bigbi Thursday, two miles north of Little Creek, Va. The Bigbi sank at approximately 5:40 a.m., Saturday. The four-man crew of the Bigbi activated their emergency personal indicating radio beacon, donned lifejackets and survival suits, abandoned their boat and boarded a 12-foot Boston whaler, where they were assisted by a good Samaritan. A Coast Guard 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Little Creek met with the good Samaritan and transported the four boaters to shore.

Boston Whaler Holds Ribbon Cutting Event

In 2014, Boston Whaler broke ground on a new era in its history, introducing its largest model ever with the new 420 Outrage. On Jan. 13, 2015, Whaler celebrated the expansion to its facility that makes production of the 420 Outrage possible: the addition of nearly 60,000 square feet of under-roof manufacturing space. At an event held on site in Edgewater, Boston Whaler President Huw Bower led a ribbon-cutting ceremony beforea crowd of local and state politicians, executives from parent company Brunswick Corporation including President and Chief Operating Officer Mark Schwabero, members of the press and the entire Boston Whaler staff. “We’re here to commemorate the expansion that our facility has undergone, but more than that, we’re here to acknowledge all that it symbolizes,” said Bower.

U.S. companies continue to land lucrative contracts with domestic and foreign customers for vessels that are designed or specially customized to meet defense, police and anti-piracy needs. Governments here and abroad, meanwhile, continue to cut budgets. Many of the security craft to be delivered this year are built to save energy, reduce emissions and reach higher speeds and greater cruising ranges than their predecessors. Hatteras Yachts/Cabo Taken Over

An affiliate of Versa Capital Management  has acquired the operating businesses of Hatteras/CABO from Brunswick Corporation. Hatteras Yachts is recognized as a world leader in the construction of convertible sportfishing and luxury motor yachts. CABO Yachts has enjoyed a well-deserved reputation as one the world’s top builders of sportfishing express boats from 36 to 52 feet. The acquisition is effective immediately. Purchase terms were not disclosed. “Both Hatteras and CABO are cornerstone American brands in their respective luxury marine markets, and both have been affected during the extended economic downturn,” stated Gregory L. Segall, CEO of Versa Capital.

USCG Issues Boating Under Influence Citation in Massachusetts Bay

Coast Guard law enforcement crews issued a boating under the influence citation to the operator of a vessel late Sunday night in Massachusetts Bay. Watchstanders at Station Point Allerton received notification of a 12-foot Boston Whaler that was adrift and disabled off of Nantasket Beach, Massachusetts. A crew from Station Point Allerton and the Hull Harbormaster launched to assess the situation. Once on scene the Station's Crew noticed that the operator appeared to be intoxicated. Station Point Allerton took the vessel in side tow and brought it to Hull, Massachusetts where local police were waiting. A field sobriety test was given to the operator which determined that he was intoxicated. The Boarding Officer issued a civil citation to the operator for Boating Under the Influence.

For a tenth consecutive year, Boston Whaler was recognized for excellence in customer satisfaction by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) as a recipient of the 2013 Customer Satisfaction (CSI) Award. As announced by the NMMA at the 2013 International BoatBuilders Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), Boston Whaler earned its award in the Fiberglass Outboard Boats category. The CSI Awards measure customer satisfaction, only recognizing boat and engine manufacturers that receive the highest marks.
