Bradford Marine Yacht Sales, New Brand
Bradford Marine, Inc. has acquired rights to the Bradford name relating to yacht sales and charter. As a result, they are reuniting the Bradford name for the first time in over 25 years and re-branding their The Shipyard Group subsidiary which will become known as Bradford Marine Yacht Sales. Bradford Marine was founded in 1966. In the early 1980's, co-founder Charles Blickle left the company but retained use of the Bradford name for his yacht sales and charter business called "Bradford Yacht Sales." In the early 1990's, Bradford Yacht Sales was acquired by outside investors, but Blickle's son, Charles Jr., stayed with that business for many years.

Bradford Marine Bahamas Completes New Docks
Bradford Grand Bahama, Ltd., one of the Bradford Marine family of companies, announced the completion of 1,200 lineal feet of new docks on the west side of their Freeport, Grand Bahama shipyard. These new docks accommodate yachts and commercial vessels of all sizes, including the largest mega-yachts and super-yachts, and they have full utilities, drainage and work aprons. Construction of the docks utilized almost 2,000 feet of steel pipe and 3,000 feet of 16 inch steel I-beam. Bradford Grand Bahama Overcomes Hurricanes
During the recent hurricane assault on the Bahamas, Bradford Grand Bahama, Ltd. (Bradford), one of the Bradford Marine family of companies, hardly missed a beat in the operation of its 50 acre full-service, ISPS-compliant shipyard in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island. On September 4, Bradford’s Freeport shipyard was hit by Hurricane Frances, which caused some damage at the facility but inflicted major damage to the utility infrastructure on Grand Bahama Island. Determined to minimize any disruption and to continue providing jobs for its shipyard workers, Bradford swiftly sent a container load of water, food and other supplies to its workers and also purchased a 275 KW, 400 amp generator which it quickly had up and running.
Building Completed at Bradford’s Grand Bahamas Facility
Officials at Bradford Grand Bahamas repair and refit shipyard are pleased to announce that a new metal fabrication building was recently completed and is now serving customers at it¹s Freeport location. The 175 ft. by 40 ft. fully covered maintenance facility is one of several expansion projects underway at Bradford's 12-acre shipyard. The new fabrication building is located directly alongside an expansive dry dock slip. Bradford Grand Bahamas site includes the new fabrication building and a 2000-square foot propeller shop. Other features include a 1,200-ton floating dry dock (to haul vessels up to 230 feet), and a 150-ton TraveLift. With capabilities to expand to one mile of waterfront Bradford's Grand Bahamas shipyard is located along a canal avenue with a depth of 30 ft.

Freeport-McMoRan Chairman James Moffett to Step Down
Freeport-McMoRan Inc co-founder James Moffett will step down as chairman and quit its board, months after the miner added two new directors under pressure from billionaire investor Carl Icahn. Freeport said Moffett, who had been appointed chairman emeritus, would be a consultant to its board and advise the company on its Indonesia operations, including Grasberg. Moffett was instrumental in the discovery and development of Grasberg, one of the world's biggest gold and copper deposits. The company's shares fell 7.5 percent to $7.00 in morning trading. Moffett stepping down probably has more to do with a health problem rather than pressure from Icahn, Bradford Research analyst Charles Bradford told Reuters. Navy Construction Force’s Largest Project Progressing
Sixty-one Sailors from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 74 are supporting the Navy’s ongoing $19 million construction project at Navy Auxiliary Landing Field (NALF), San Clemente Island. The “Fearless” Beavers of NMCB 74 are constructing a 21-mile-long tank trail from a beach landing site to the island’s Shore Bombardment Access area. The trail will allow Marines to train with amphibious assault vehicles for shore landing operations. The project, which started in June 2004, is scheduled to be completed by 2010 and calls for many activities including equipment maintenance, operation of rock crushing equipment and blasting evolutions. “The training that takes place here is vital to Pacific Fleet’s readiness.

The Low Cost Conformal Array (LCCA) is a new sail-mounted acoustic sonar system that was developed to provide enhanced tactical control for operations in coastal waters. The advanced development model LCCA system was installed on USS Cheyenne (SSN 773) in Pearl Harbor in March. Port of Melbourne Plans Large Expansion
Premier Ted Baillieu and Minister for Ports Denis Napthine announce trade figures at the Port of Melbourne surged in the 2011-12 financial year with a 9.1 per cent overall increase at Australasia’s busiest container and general cargo port. Mr Baillieu said in the 2011-12 financial year total port trade grew to 87 million revenue tonnes up from 79.7 million revenue tonnes in the previous year.
