Seabulk Offshore Adds Powerful AHTS to Fleet

The Seabulk Offshore group of companies has decided to add a new UT-710 Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel (AHTS) to its fleet, making the 226-ft. Seabulk South Atlantic the fifth newbuild vessel in Seabulk’s 2003 fleet renewal program. Built by Norway-based Brevik Construction, the 10,050-hp Seabulk South Atlantic joins the fleet on a five-year bareboat charter agreement that includes an option to purchase at the contract’s end. Seabulk South Atlantic, which moves at speeds up to 15.5 knots, has a certified bollard pull of 133 MT, and provides a large triple-drum anchor handling/tow winch with up to 300 tons line pull and 450 tons brake load. The vessel also has a large 123 x 50-ft. deck that can handle up to 800 tons of cargo.

Vessel: Seabulk Gets 10,850-hp AHTS

Seabulk Offshore added a new UT-710 Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel (AHTS) to its fleet, making the 226-ft. Seabulk South Atlantic the fifth newbuild vessel in Seabulk's 2003 fleet renewal program. Seabulk South Atlantic joins the Seabulk fleet on a five-year bareboat charter agreement that includes a purchase option at the end of the contract. "Seabulk South Atlantic is equipped with the latest technology and will service growing markets in West Africa, working with the major oil companies who are demanding modern, state- of-the-art equipment to support their multi-billion dollar developments in the deepwater offshore," said Larry D. Farstad Gets Contract for Platform Supply Vessel

P/R International Offshore Services ANS (IOS), a company owned 50 percent by Farstad Shipping ASA and 50 percent by P&O, Australia, has signed a contract with Brevik Construction AS for delivery of a platform supply vessel in September 2003. The vessel is of design UT 755L. Presently IOS operates 15 vessels and has 3 vessels on order for delivery in 2003.

Farstad Releases First Quarter Results

Farstad Shipping achieved for the first three months of 2001 an operating income of $38.4 million. The result before taxes was $16.8 million Farstad Shipping obtaines estimates for the market value of the vessels twice each year, by half-year and the year-end. NOK 83.98 ( NOK 65.59). March. The vessel has after delivery traded the spot market in the North Sea. delivered by Brevik Construction AS to IOS in March. The vessel departed for Australia to enter a 7 year contract with the oil company Woodside. In March Far Scotsman left the North Sea for Australia where the vessel started a two year contract with Phillips Petroleum Pty. Scotsman has during this charter been chartered into IOS from Farstad on a bareboat contract. Sea for Brazil.

Farstad Gets Contract

Farstad Shipping ASA has, through its wholly owned subsidiary Farstad Supply AS, signed a contract with Brevik Construction AS for delivery of a platform supply vessel in July 2003. The vessel is of design UT 755L.

Aker Yards to Build PSV

Aker Yards, via its wholly owned subsidiary, Aker Brevik, has entered into a contract with Island Offshore VIII KS in Ulsteinvik, Norway, to deliver a UT 755LN platform supply vessel. The value of the contract is approximately NOK 130 million. This is the fourteenth contract between the shipowner, Island Offshore Group in Ulsteinvik and Aker Yards and the third for delivery in 2005 between Aker Brevik AS and the Island Offshore Group. The hull for the PSV will be built at Vyborg Shipyard in Russia, and will arrive in Brevik in August this year. Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for medio December 2005. The platform supply vessel for Island Offshore is designated newbuilding number 41 at Brevik Construction AS.

Vickers Ulstein Wins Design And Equipment Packages

Vickers Ulstein Marine Systems' specialist offshore design company, Ulstein Ship Technology, has signed three separate contracts to supply designs and equipment packages for offshore support vessels. Two UT755s are currently on order for different owners at Brevik Construction in Norway, and a UT722 on order at Orskov Christensen's Staalkibsvaerft in Denmark. Total value of the contract trio to Vickers amounts to $18.5 million. Ulstein Ship Technology's most recent contract stands with Brevik Construction for the provision of the design and equipment package for a standard UT755 platform supply vessel to be constructed for Norwegian owner Nordenfjeldske Dampskibsselskap.

Farstad Enters Long-Term Charter with Arrendadora

The Mexican offshore service company Arrendadora Ocean Mexicana SA is nominated as winner of a maintenance contract for the oil company Pemex in Mexico. This contract is based on the utilisation of two of Farstad's vessels, and Farstad Shipping ASA will as a consequence enter into a long-term charter with Arrendadora Ocean Mexicana SA for Far Scotia and Far Swift, each for 3.3 years. Total contract value for Fartad Shipping ASA is approx. NOK 225 million, and both vessels will commence operations in August/September. Far Scotia and Far Swift are both platform supply vessels (PSV) of the UT 755 design. Far Scotia will finish a two year contract for ASCO in July, while the newbuild Far Swift will be delivered from the yard (Brevik Construction AS) early in the same month.
