Theisen Returns to Philly Shipyard as CFO

Philly Shipyard announced Wednesday that Jeffrey Theisen will re-join the company as Chief Financial Officer, effective September 8. Theisen fills the vacancy created by last month's sudden passing of Brian Leathers.Theisen previously served as Philly Shipyard's CFO for eight years, from 2007 - 2015. He was involved in the spin-off of Philly Shipyard from its parent Aker American Shipping and subsequent listing of the company on Oslo Axess, and he was instrumental in securing backlog and negotiating various financings, investments and other significant transactions.

Philly Shipyard ASA announced that Brian Leathers will assume the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) immediately following the Q2 2019 meeting of the Board of Directors on July 15, 2019.Mr. Leathers will replace Jan Ivar Nielsen, who is resigning from his position as the company’s CFO to pursue another executive role within the Aker group. Austal USA announces the promotion of Craig Perciavalle to President, Austal USA. Mr. Perciavalle is currently serving as Senior Vice President of Operations. He joined Austal USA in 2007, serving in a number of senior management positions while overseeing Austal’s transition from a small, conventional commercial shipyard to an efficient, modular manufacturer of the Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship and Joint High Speed Vessel. Austal Lays Keel for LCS 6

Austal held a keel-laying ceremony for the third Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) – Jackson (LCS 6), one of five Austal-designed 127-m U.S. Navy Independence-variant LCS under contract with the U.S. Navy. Dr. Katherine Holmes Cochran, the ship’s sponsor, was present to weld her initials onto the keel plate as the Keel Authenticator. She was assisted by J.B. Craig, III, who is an “A” Class welder that has been part of the Austal team since November of 2011. Dr. Cochran is the daughter of U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) and his wife Rose Clayton Cochran.

Austal Launches USNS Choctaw County

First-In-Class Joint High Speed Vessel Completes Trials

First-in-class Joint High Speed Vessel USNS Spearhead (JHSV 1), the high-speed catamaran transport ship under construction at Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama, successfully completed Acceptance Trials (AT) on August 17, 2012, in the Gulf of Mexico. Austal USA honored 15 graduates of Austal’s cutting-edge four-year apprenticeship program.

Part of Austal’s growing talent pool – 3,000 and counting. Austal USA honored 15 graduates of Austal’s cutting-edge four-year apprenticeship program yesterday at a ceremony held in the new Office Complex Multi-Use Room. This was recently the same backdrop for a ribbon-cutting ceremony which celebrated the official opening of three new buildings at Austal’s state-of-the-art shipbuilding operation in Mobile, Ala. The graduates received their certificates of completion and designation as Department of Labor Class A Journeymen.

Rella Out as CEO at Austal USA

Joe Rella, president and chief operating officer of Austal USA since 2007, has reportedly resigned from the company. Austal's board of directors has accepted his resignation. Brian Leathers, who had been serving as chief financial officer, will serve as interim president of Austal USA. Craig Perciavalle will serve as vice president of shipyard operations."This transition is a natural step," said Austal chief executive officer Andrew Bellamy. Austal has an active contract with the U.S. Navy to build nine Spearhead-class Joint High Speed Vessels (JHSV) under a 10-ship, $1.6 billion contract. Beyond this, the company also has a contract to build up to 10 Littoral Combat Ships (LCS). Austal is conducting a search for new leadership, according to the company.
