KMSS Bridgeline Takes a Lead
Korean shipbuilders have achieved a market-leading role in the construction of LNG tankers. Following commitment to serve this market with products, Kongsberg Maritime Ship Systems (KMSS) has received a breakthrough success by receiving firm orders for its Bridgeline, Integrated Navigation System, to be fitted to seven of the new LNG tankers, with options for further deliveries in the future. KMSS will provide Radar/ARPA, ECDIS- electronic chart display system, MBB- voyage data recorder, UAIS- universal automatic identification system with full integration of the navigation instruments. The Bridgeline assembly will be carried out in Korea.
RTM STAR Center Upgrades Full Mission Bridge Simulator
RTM STAR (Simulation, Training, Assessment and Research) Center has announced the upgrade and modernization of their 247 degree “field-of-view” Full Mission Bridge Simulator. The simulator is located at STAR Center’s Dania Beach, Fla., facility and is based on a design by Kongsberg Maritime Ship Systems Inc. (KMSS). Following the successful upgrade of STAR Center’s 360 bridge with the Litton Sperry 2100 Integrated Bridge System in 1999, STAR Center is proud to announce the upgrade of its other Full Mission Bridge Simulator. The 247° Full Mission Bridge Simulator has been upgraded with KMSS equipment and features the capability to simulate Azipod® equipped vessels in addition to other traditional propulsion systems.
KMSS To Supply IBS For Hyundai Mipo Dockyard
Kongsberg Maritime Ship Systems (KMSS) has received an order worth $1.2 million from the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard located in Ulsan, South Korea. KMSS will supply its powerful Integrated Bridge System – BridgeLine - for fitting on four 2826 TEU Container Ships owned by Suisse Atlantique and Ahrenkiel. The complete Integrated Bridge System (IBS) installed in KMSS BridgeLine Consoles provides Radar/ARPA with the latest generation antennas and receivers, Steering Control System, Track Pilot, Speedlog, Echosounder, ECDIS, DGPS and GMDSS. Use of Integrated Navigation Systems has become more and more common in most kinds of ship, as such systems are more advantageous to owners and operators.
KMSS Seals Brazilian Contracts
Kongsberg Maritime Ship Systems (KMSS) has taken orders to provide over $3 million worth of services and equipment to Petrobras and Metalnave SA, both based in Brazil. KMSS products are also set to be displayed at this years World Petroleum Expo, to be held in Rio this September. KMSS will supply Autrocargo cargo monitoring systems for the Petrobras P-43 and P-48 Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessels (FPSO’s), currently under construction in Singapore and Brazil and bound for the Barracuda and Caratinga field developments. Petrobras has 11 FPSO’s in operation and under construction, 8 of which have been fitted out with KMSS systems.
