BMT Acquires New Company

BMT Defence Services Ltd, a subsidiary of British Maritime Technology Ltd (BMT), the multi-disciplinary engineering and technology consultancy, has today acquired Bertram Martin Consulting Ltd (BMC), the engineering investment appraisal and cost modelling consultancy. BMC is well known throughout the defence industry for its work in forecasting the through-life costs of major design and procurement projects and appraising potential research and development investments. It has also applied this expertise to the offshore industry. BMC will become a business unit of BMT Defence Services, the naval engineering and design services subsidiary, reporting to Managing Director Andrew Tyler.

New Courses Examine Ship Structure Fatigue

for vessel design, maintenance and operation. structures including ships, aircraft, offshore platforms and pipelines. cost-effective material specification, design and maintenance decisions. structures. lack of dissemination to industry. to provide the required training or technology transfer. with due consideration for environmental effects. Future ship structure fatigue and fracture courses are being planned for the UK and USA in the autumn of 2004.

Project Aims to Improves Ship Evacuation

Pioneering trials measuring the ship evacuation performance of passengers in conditions including smoke and rolling motion, are being conducted as part of a research project led by British Maritime Technology Ltd (BMT) and co-funded by the European Union FP5 Competitive and Sustainable Growth program and Precarn (funding for Canadian partners). The aim is to produce a FIRE-EXIT simulation tool that will equip the marine industry with a ship evacuation, fire and abandonment simulation tool that is a significant improvement over the level of reliability…

Nigel Gee and Associates Acquired by BMT

Nigel Gee and Associates Ltd., has been acquired by British Maritime Technology Ltd (BMT). With Nigel Gee’s mix of military, commercial and yacht design expertise, this acquisition will enhance the portfolio of services BMT offers to clients. Roger Swann, Chief Executive of BMT, said: ‘I believe this acquisition will strengthen our capability in both the high speed shipping and defence sector. Nigel Gee and Associates Ltd is an extremely innovative design company and I am confident it will make a significant contribution to BMT.’ Nigel Gee will remain as Managing Director and John Bonafoux as Technical Director. Roger Swann and Peter French, BMT Operations Director (Europe & The Far East), have joined the Board as a director and Chairman respectively.
