Concordia Maritime Sells Three Tankers

Sweden-based shipowner Concordia Maritime announced it has sold three product tankers to a European buyer for above-market prices.The company said Friday that it has entered into an agreement for the sale of the 65,200 dwt vessels Stena Primorsk, Stena Performance and Stena Provence, all built in 2006 at Croatia's Brodosplit Shipyard. The ships are expected to be delivered to their new owner during the fourth quarter of 2022."The agreed price is significantly above the market valuations made mid 2022…

Quark Takes Delivery of New Expedition Cruise Ship Ultramarine

U.S.-based Quark Expeditions has taken delivery of its new polar expedition cruise ship Ultramarine from the Brodosplit Shipyard in Croatia.The 128-meter Ultramarine has accommodations for 199 passengers in 103 cabins, plus 140 crew members. It features two twin-engine helicopters and two heliports as well as 20 quick-deploy Zodiacs for off-ship adventuring.Andrew White, president of Quark Expeditions, said, “Every aspect of Ultramarine has been designed and engineered to enable our teams to get guests off the ship and deep into the polar wilderness better than ever before.

Kongsberg to Equip Triumph Subsea's New Field Development Vessel

Norwegian maritime tech and equipment company Kongsberg Maritime (KM) will deliver a large technology package for Triumph Subsea Services' field development vessel (FDV).Triumph Subsea Services in December 2020 signed a contract with the Croatian shipbuilder Brodosplit for the construction of the vessel, with options to order three more.Kongsberg Maritime said Thursday it had signed a Letter of Intent with Brodosplit Shipyard and DIV Group in Croatia to deliver a large technology package for the vessel.

Croatian DIV Group is set to buy Kleven Verft, a Norwegian shipbuilding company specializing in the construction of offshore and cruise vessels.DIV, which owns the Brodosplit shipyard in Split Croatia, has signed an agreement to buy the Norwegian company based in Ulsteinvik, with the deal is expected to be executed in the next few weeks, Kleven said Monday.Kjetil Bollestad, CEO at Kleven, said he was happy the company was getting "a new and solid owner of the yard.""Through a difficult period, we have managed to deliver fantastic ships, as well as exploit the high competence at the shipyard.

Brodosplit Cuts Steel for Expedition Ship

Quark Expeditions Intros Ultramarine

Polar adventures specialist Quark Expeditions is to introduce new livery on Ultramarine, it’s latest expedition cruise vessel, which will debut in time for the 2020-2021 season in Antarctica.The 200 passenger polar expedition ship is under construction at Croatia’s Brodosplit shipyard. Steel Cut for Quark Polar Expedition Ship

'Brodosplit' Delivery for Fincantieri Group

By loading fitted sections (grand blocks), with more than 1450 tons of steel equipped with piping, ironmongery components and electric routing on a special cargo barge delivery was executed in Shipbuilding Industry Split Inc. on 5 November 2015. This is the most demanding part of ship’s hull that includes bulbous bow, bow structure with three built-in bow-thrusters, few ballast tanks and hull structure consisting of several decks with built-in equipment. This is the third project for Brodosplit, that contracted building of bow hull sections with Fincantieri Group, one of the largest shipbuilding groups in the world. By these projects Brodosplit proved quality and established excellent collaboration with its Adriatic neighbour.

Star Clippers to Build Massive Square Rigger

Tall ship sailing specialist Star Clippers has announced that it has started building a fourth ship to add to its fleet of graceful square-riggers; its first new-build since the launch of Royal Clipper in July 2000. The new vessel, yet to be named, will be the biggest and most ambitious project to date and will be launched in the second half of 2017, carrying 300 passengers, measuring 8,770 tons and powered by more than 6,350 square meters of sails. The new ship will technically be a five-masted, square-rigged barque.

Stena Donates Tanker Model to Paris Museum

Stena donates tanker model to the Musée National de la Marine in Paris, highlighting safe maritime practices and clean oceans. A ceremony was held Friday evening at the prestigious national maritime museum, Musée National de la Marine in Paris, marking Stena’s donation of a model of the Stena Paris P-MAX tanker. Concordia Maritime Charters 2 P-MAX Tankers

Concordia Maritime signed time-charter contract for two P-MAX tankers and launched a pool with four vessels. The time-charter contracts are with Stena Bulk and cover the wholly owned Concordia Maritime tankers Stena Perros and Stena President, for one year each. The pool to be started up by Concordia Maritime and Stena Bulk will also include the P-MAX vessels Stena Penguin and Stena Primorsk for the same period of time. The four tankers will transport heavy petroleum products, primarily in the Atlantic market. “We are very pleased with the agreement and still believe in a stronger market in 2015, but we also want to balance our spot market exposure.

Concordia, Neste Sell Jointly Owned Tankers

Concordia Maritime and Finnish Neste Oil have reached an agreement on the sale of the two jointly owned Ice Class 1A panamax tankers, Stena Poseidon and Palva. The buyer is Transport Maritime St-Laurent Inc. and the tankers are expected to be delivered in April/May 2014. Stena Poseidon and Palva are panamax tankers with a deadweight of 75,000 tons and were delivered from Brodosplit Shipyard in Split in 2007. They are jointly owned by Concordia Maritime and Neste Oil. Both tankers have been signed to time charters with Neste Oil since 2007.

Raytheon Anschütz Marks Crocon's IBS 100th Sale

At SMM 2012, Raytheon Anschütz has honored their Croatian representative Crocon for the 100th Integrated Bridge System sold. The one hundredth delivery of an Integrated Bridge System was for the second newbuild of a Heavy Lift Carrier for Dutch company Jumbo Shipping at Brodosplit shipyard in Split. The IBS will be of the new Synapsis Bridge Control series and in compliance with IMO’s new Performance Standards for Integrated Navigation Systems. Crocon has its roots in the marine business as an agency and representative of world leading suppliers and manufacturers on the Croatian market.

The German navigation system manufacturer Raytheon Anschütz has been awarded the contract for the supply of advanced Integrated Navigations Systems of their Synapsis Bridge Control series to new Heavy Lift Carriers for Dutch company Jumbo Shipping. Jumbo Orders Second Heavy Lift Ship

Jumbo Shipping has confirmed the order for a second new K-class vessel, with an option on a third, to complement its existing fleet. After careful consideration and engineering study, Jumbo has decided to upgrade the lifting capacity of the vessels from 1,300 to 1,500mt, enabling tandem lifts of 3,000mt. These vessels will comfortably surpass the capability of other vessels in their class and reassert Jumbo's leading market position. This latest investment underlines Jumbo’s long-term commitment to its existing and new clients.

On the 15th of August M/T Marilee LR1 Ice Class 1A, successfully completed her first Northern Sea Route Passage, safely escorted by Rosatomflot's nuclear ice breaker Vaigach. The savings compared to a voyage through Suez were 18 days and 580 tons of bunker resulting in a significant cost benefit for the Charterer and reduced emissions. The M/T Mariann, sister vessel to Marilee, embarked mid September as the second vessel under Marinvest management, on her NSR passage for discharge in the Far East.

Jumbo Orders Another Heavy Lift Ship

An agreement has been signed with the Brodosplit shipyard in Split, Croatia, for the construction of a top segment heavy lift vessel. The new vessel will have a length of 152.6 m and a beam of 27.4 m and is equipped with 2x 1,100 mt cranes (at 27.5m outreach). In tandem the cranes can lift up to 2,200 mt. This makes it the one of thge strongest heavy lift vessel in the world. To be able to work in Arctic regions, the vessel is to be built under ice class. For offshore operations the vessel will be prepared for future DP2 installation.Estimated delivery date of the new vessel is March 2013. The vessel will be operational in June 2013. Jumbo also has an option for a second vessel at the shipyard in Split.

Concordia Receives the Stena Penguin

Concordia Maritime has taken delivery of the product tanker Stena Penguin, which will enter into a three-year charter with Glencore subsidiary ST Shipping. The Stena Penguin is the ninth P-MAX tanker in a series of ten tankers in the so-called P-MAX series ordered from the Croatian shipyard Brodosplit. In August, the Stena Penguin was named in a ceremony in Split. Barbara Walter, wife of shipbroker Gilbert Walter, who negotiated the order with the shipyard, was the ship’s godmother.

Delivery of Stena Premium

Concordia Maritime has taken delivery of the product tanker Stena Premium, which will soon enter into a three-year charter contract with Glencore subsidiary ST Shipping. The Stena Premium is the tenth and last P-MAX tanker in the so-called P-MAX series ordered from the Croatian shipyard Brodosplit. The tankers in the P-MAX series have all been signed to charters of between three and ten years from delivery. The fleet operates in different geographical markets all over the world, transporting both light and heavy petroleum products as well as crude oil. The first P-MAX tanker was delivered in 2005 from Brodosplit Shipyard. The tankers have double hulls, two engine rooms with full water and fire integrity and two separate propulsion systems.

P-MAX Stena Progress Named in Split

Concordia Maritime’s product tanker Stena Progress was named at Brodosplit Shipyard in Split. On delivery, the vessel will enter a five-year charter with the French energy company Total. The Stena Progress is the seventh tanker of ten in the so-called P-MAX series. The godmother was Mrs. Wei Ling Sim, Chartering Manager at Total in Singapore. The master is Captain Steven Targett. The P-MAX sister vessels Stena Paris, Stena Provence and Stena Perros are also chartered to Total. The first P-MAX tanker was delivered in December 2005 and delivery of the tenth unit is set for 2010. Concordia Maritime’s policy is to build tankers with proactive safety.

Delivery of P-Max Stena Progress from Brodosplit

On Sept. 23 Concordia Maritime took delivery of the product tanker Stena Progress from Brodosplit Shipyard, Croatia. The vessel has been signed to a five-year time charter with the French oil and energy company Total to transport refined products. The Stena Progress, a so-called P-Max tanker, is the seventh in a series of ten units ordered. She was named on Sept. 3 at Brodosplit. The sister vessels Stena Paris, Stena Provence and Stena Perros are all on long time charters to Total. In all, Total has four of ten P-Max tankers on time charters with a remaining charter period of 14 years as of Sept. 24. The P-Max tankers are 600.4 ft long, have a breadth of 131.2 ft, a draft (design) of 37 ft, and a deadweight of 65,200 tons. (www.concordia-maritime.se)

Naming & Delivery of Stena Polaris

Concordia Maritime took delivery of the product tanker Stena Polaris from Brodosplit Shipyard in Croatia and at the same time a naming ceremony was held. The vessel has been signed to a three-year charter with ST Shipping, part of Glencore, for the transport of refined petroleum products. The Stena Polaris is the eighth unit in the P-MAX series and the first of two P-MAX tankers with the highest ice class, 1A. Her sisters, the Stena Penguin with delivery planned for Q4, 2010, and the Stena Premium, with delivery planned for Q1, 2011, have also been contracted for three years by ST Shipping. The vessel’s godmother was Mrs. Helle Andersen, wife of Jan Andersen, Head of Shipping at ST Shipping.
