Engineering and Design for Lean Shipbuilding
New business paper describes how the marine industry can develop Lean methodologies to press on in lean times. AVEVA has announced its publication of a new business paper – ‘Engineering & Design for Lean Shipbuilding’. In this paper, AVEVA examines how engineering and design information can be readily shared to enable a highly efficient, concurrent workflow that progressively refines a design in a controlled, iterative manner to ensure ‘right-first-time’ fabrication and assembly.
AVEVA Upgrades Engineering Software
AVEVA announced productivity improvements in its latest release of AVEVA Engineering, the multi-discipline software that enables engineering teams to work collaboratively on plant or marine projects. Responding to customer feedback, the new enhancements to AVEVA Engineering means it is the only product which combines powerful features such as datasheets, project breakdown structures with 2D and 3D visualization, the developer said. These functionality upgrades aim to improve ease of use, enhance control and ensure consistent and reliable data.
Aveva: Navies Can Reduce Project Cost, Risk and Timescales
Aveva today announced its publication of a new business paper, “Taking Command: How Aveva technology can increase capabilities in naval fleet management.” In this paper, Aveva examines six ways that navies can exploit technologies used in other sectors, such as the offshore industry, to work more closely and effectively with the shipbuilders with whom they partner. The objective is to avoid many of the unnecessary difficulties that can often be encountered in what are already challenging engineering projects.
Safety Drives Digital Plant Upgrade, Says Aveva
Aveva’s new business paper examines how 3D laser surveying technology can transform brownfield asset information. Aveva announced its publication of a new business paper, Seeing Through the Fog, describing how recent advances in both 3D laser surveying and Information Management technology combine to enable the capture and use of an accurate digital counterpart of a brownfield plant. It explains how owner operators of existing facilities can now take advantage of the kind of "digital plant" information asset created in new-build projects.
Aveva: New Paper on Integrated Steelwork and 3D Plant Design
Aveva released ‘Bolting it all together,’ the latest in its series of business papers, which discusses how integrating structural steelwork and plant layout design can reduce project cost, risk and delivery time. The paper explores the considerable business advantage that EPCs and Shipbuilders, working on plant/offshore projects, can gain by using a specialized steelwork application that can be used efficiently within a plant design solution to support close, collaborative working through an entire design and construction project.
