Frederic Fontarosa, Wilhelmsen Ships Serviceā€™s (WSS) Business Director Ships Agency will speak at this yearā€™s prestigious IP Week, to be held at the Park Plaza Riverbank, London, from 20-22 February. Hosted by The Energy Institute, IP (International Petroleum) Week 2012 brings together professionals from the global oil and gas industry for three days of networking, discussion and debate. Mr Fontarosa will speak on Wednesday 22 February as part of the Pipelines and Transport Forum.

Smart Shipping 2011: A Different Viewpoint

Wilhelmsen Ships Serviceā€™ (WSS) was a sponsor of last monthā€™s Smart Shipping event in Singapore, with Business Director Ships Agency Frederic Fontarosa describing it as an ā€˜essential conference for the industry which is certain to root itself firmly in the international maritime events calendarā€™. Held  from 17-18 October at the Four Seasons hotel, the event was attended by over 170 delegates representing over 40 of the worldā€™s leading shipowners, ship managers and shipyards. Hosted by NHST Events/Tradewinds, Smart Shipping enabled key shipping executives to speak candidly about how they believe the sector can become more efficient, reduce and control costs, improve performance and stay compliant.

WSS Marks 10 months of Successful ACD

Since the start of 2011, Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) Ships Agency has been successfully dealing with the needs of vessels calling in European ports with regard to Advanced Cargo Declarations. These regulations require all carriers to pre-alert customs authorities of goods going in and out of the EU, Switzerland and Norway by providing an Advance Cargo Declaration (ACD). While the American ACD is made through a single electronic portal when entering U.S. waters, the EU ACD must be filed through the Import Control System (ICS) which is individually adopted by all EU member states.
