Classification society Lloyd’s Register (LR) said it has awarded approval in principle (AIP) to Rotoboost, a Nordic hydrogen production company, for its pre-combustion Carbon Capture System (CCS) Rotobox. Rotobox uses thermocatalytic decomposition process (TCD) onboard marine vessels, where part of the natural gas fuel supply is converted into hydrogen and graphite with a liquid catalyst.The TCD process significantly reduces CO2 emissions, particulate matter and methane slip by producing hydrogen while capturing carbon in its solid form.

New loading equipment was recently delivered to Port Milwaukee for The DeLong Co., Inc. agricultural maritime export facility.The Made in America ship loader traveled more than 1,500 miles by barge from New Orleans, up the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers to Jones Island. Exhaust gas cleaning systems, also known as scrubbers, have been installed on two Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) ships in order to reduce air emissions. NCL says it was the first cruise line to commit to retrofitting six vessels with scrubbers and has now exceeded that commitment with a total of eight ships, including the latest two, Norwegian Sun and Norwegian Jade. Record U.S. LPG exports to Asia flip market into a glut. Last year, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supplied to Asia was being snapped up by petrochemical makers. Now, after a flood of U.S. exports into the region, the market is awash with LPG and supplies are being stored in ships anchored off Singapore. At least four Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs) are parked off Singapore, including the "BW Carina" and "Berge Nantong", both of which have been there for at least a week, shipping data carried on Thomson Reuters Eikon showed. Norwegian Cruise Line said it is the first cruise line to retrofit a vessel while it is in service with an Exhaust Gas Scrubber Hybrid system. Norwegian Jewel’s new lightweight in-line scrubbers are a hybrid technology developed by Yara Marine Technologies that are able to operate in dry mode, open loop and closed loop.
