Cameron LNG Begins Production

The Cameron LNG project has achieved first liquefied natural gas (LNG) production from train 1. Global LNG Imports Up in Q1 by 11%

Despite the liquefied natural gas (LNG) demand in the first quarter of 2019 being negatively impacted by warmer than usual weather in the Northern Hemisphere winter, global LNG imports during the period totalled 88 million tonnes (mt), compared to 79 mt in the first quarter of 2018, or an increase of 11%, GasLog said quoting Poten.In particular, China’s LNG imports totalled 15.3 mt, 24% higher than the first quarter of 2018.Europe’s LNG imports in the first quarter more than doubled to 22 mt…

The Isle of Man Department for Enterprise has announced the appointment of Cameron Mitchell as the next Director of the Isle of Man Ship Registry. He will start his post from 1st April 2019.Cameron has a strong history in the shipping industry working with leading operators Maersk, Geest Line and Farstad Shipping for over 10 years as an engineer.Cameron has also held various roles at the Isle of Man Ship Registry, working as a surveyor for 9 years before taking over as Deputy Director in 2018.

Cheniere Completes 5th LNG Train at Sabine Pass

NextDecade in Rio Grande LNG Site Lease Deal

US LNG export project developer NextDecade Corporation signed a lease agreement with the Brownsville Navigation District (BND) for its Rio Grande LNG project.The proposed $15 billion Rio Grande LNG export terminal and pipeline at the Port of Brownsville, Texas, was considered and approved during a meeting of the BND Board of Commissioners.The lease agreement, which covers an approximately 984-acre parcel of land in Cameron County, Texas, carries an initial term of thirty years, with two options to renew and extend the term of the lease for periods of ten years each.

NAO Logs a Big Loss

Nordic American Offshore Ltd (NYSE: NAO) reported for the three months ended December 31, 2018, the company's net loss was $169.3 million, or $26.23 per basic and diluted loss per share, which included a non-cash impairment charge of $160.1 million, or $24.80 per basic and diluted. MHI: LNG Carrier "Marvel Crane" Christened

Mitsubishi Shipbuilding held a christening ceremony on February 21 for the next-generation LNG (liquefied natural gas) carrier currently under construction for Mitsui & Co., Ltd.The new ship, named Marvel Crane, is a design that significantly improves both LNG carrying capacity and fuel performance due to the adoption of efficient hull structure and hybrid propulsion system. Completion is scheduled for March 2019, after which the Marvel Crane will be put into service, transporting LNG for the Cameron LNG Project in the U.S., in which Mitsui & Co.

GasLog: LNG Demand Grew 9% in 2018

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is expected to have increased by 9%, from 288 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) in 2017 to 313 mtpa in 2018, said GasLog.The Monaco-based owner, operator and manager of LNG carriers said in a stock exchange announcement that China’s LNG imports increased by approximately 16 mtpa, or 41%, to 54 mtpa in 2018, driven mainly by continued coal-to-gas switching in the industrial, commercial and residential sectors.South Korea, Pakistan, Thailand and Mexico also experienced strong growth in LNG imports during 2018.

Sempra Energy Signs New Mexican LNG Terminal

Sempra Energy, the US group that aims to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility near Ensenada, Mexico, to serve customers in Asia moved closer to becoming reality as the natural gas utilities holding company  announced agreements with three international firms.The San Diego-based company announced in a press release that  that its subsidiaries Infraestructura Energetica Nova  (IEnova) and Sempra LNG & Midstream have signed three Heads of Agreements (HOAs) with affiliates of Total, Mitsui & Co. and Tokyo Gas Co.

LNG Carrier Marvel Eagle Delivered to Mitsui

Japan's Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) announced the delivery of the 155,000 cubic meter capacity liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Marvel Eagle to Mitsui & Co.Before the delivery, on September 5, a naming ceremony was held at the Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. Sakaide Shipyard before a large crowd of onlookers and representatives of the companies involved.The 299.9-meter vessel is the first of three newbuilding LNG carriers, for which MOL and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. signed charter contracts in September 2014 and January 2015.
