Canadian Navy Awards ELMS2 Contract to BMT

BMT Group  (previously British Maritime Technology) announced that it has been awarded the Engineering, Logistics, and Management Support 2 (ELMS2) contract by the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND).According to the provider of focused solutions to projects in the energy, ports, mining, defense and transport fields, the services will directly support the Director General Maritime Equipment Program Management (DGMEPM) and the Director General Major Project Delivery (DGMPD) (Sea).Under this contract, BMT will continue to provide risk, due diligence and engineering services for Capital and National Procurement (NP) programs on an ‘as-and-when’ requested basis to support Canada’s naval fleet requirements for the next fifteen years.Darcy Byrtus…

Lamor Demos New Oil Recovery System

BMT Fleet Technology Names Byrtus President

BMT Fleet Technology Ltd., a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd., an international maritime design, engineering and risk management consultancy, has announced the appointment of Darcy Byrtus as President. Darcy joins BMT from General Dynamics Canada where he held the post of Director of Business Development for Naval Programs and Project Management. There, he was responsible for the strategic planning, opportunity identification and pursuit for all naval programs and for the promotion of General Dynamics’ capabilities to the Canadian Department of National Defence.

Sperry Marine to Equip INS for Canadian Navy Ships and Subs

Northrop Grumman Corporation has been awarded two contracts from the Public Works and Government Services Canada and the Canadian Department of National Defence to upgrade and provide in-service support for the inertial navigation systems (INS) on Canadian Navy ships and submarines. The firm fixed price contracts, totaling $15.9m, were awarded to Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit. They include an $11.8m contract to supply navigation data distribution systems (NDDS) for the MK49 INS on 12 Halifax-class frigates, and a separate five-year $4.1 million in-service support (ISS) contract for MK49, MK39 and NDDS installations throughout the Canadian Navy fleet.

OSI Geospatial Awarded $4m Canadian Navy Contract

OSI Geospatial Inc. announced that its international systems business has been awarded a support contract with the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) valued at a more than $4.0 million, including all options. The contract has a fixed provision of approximately $1.7 million over three years and an optional provision of up to $2.3 million over four years. Under the terms of the contract, OSI will provide the Canadian Navy with hardware and software support and maintenance. The Canadian Navy currently deploys OSI’s Warship Electronic Chart and Display Information System (WECDIS) product on more than 50 vessels fleet-wide. OSI delivered the first electronic chart navigation system to the Canadian Navy in 1985. Fleet installations began in 1997 and continued in 2001.
