New Cruise Terminal for Brisbane

A new international cruise terminal will be operating in Brisbane within two years after Port of Brisbane and Carnival Australia announced they had reached a commercial agreement. The Brisbane International Cruise Terminal (BICT) at Luggage Point will be operating by mid-2020 and is expected to generate almost $5 billion in economic value for the Queensland economy alone within 15 years. The amended commercial agreement between Australia’s Port of the Year, Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd (PBPL) and Australia’s leading cruise organisation, Carnival Australia, follows the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) conditional approval of the project last month.

Princess Cruises Takes Ship Delivery from Fincantieri

Majestic Princess, the third Royal Princess class cruise ship built by Fincantieri for ship owner Princess Cruises, was delivered at the Monfalcone shipyard in Italy. Princess Cruises, a Carnival Group brand, will deploy the new vessel on the Chinese market. The 145,000-gross-ton Majestic Princess is said to be the largest ship ever built in Italy, able to accommodate 4,250 passengers in 1,780 cabins and 1,350 crew members. Five P&O Cruise Ships Meet in Sydney

Sydney is the stage for the biggest get-together of a fleet of cruise ships ever seen in the harbor city. Five P&O cruise ships have created a V-formation at sea then sailed toward Sydney abreast in a single line, to celebrate the fleet's newest additions, the Pacific ARIA and Pacific EDEN. Just before sunrise, Pacific Dawn, Jewel, Pearl and today's additions to the cruise line, Aria and Eden, created a V formation before sailing abreast in one line toward the city. The special occasion celebrated the arrival of Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden, two former Holland America vessels, which were relaunched in a world-first social media naming ceremony, attended by Carnival Corporation CEO and president Arnold Donald, and CEO of Carnival Australia, Ann Sherry.

Marine engineering company Atlantic Pacific Marine (APM) informs it has opened a new site in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. to meet an increasing workload and customer base following another year of success and growth. APM is headquartered in Cardiff, U.K., but operates globally, in the past year completing dry dock projects and refits in the Grand Bahamas, Australia, Germany, the U.K, Singapore, Italy and Miami for clients including Carnival Australia, Carnival UK, Princess Cruises, P&O, Wärtsilä, Crystal Cruises and Disney Cruise Line.

APM Completes $2m Refit Ahead of Schedule

Atlantic Pacific Marine has completed the $2 million refit of the Crystal Symphony three days ahead of schedule. A team of 130 men worked around the clock while she was drydocked in Hamburg during September. APM’s work scope included installing new ducting and GF pipework, engine room mechanical repairs and renewing the ship’s loading deck. In total, the project took just sixteen days. “We were delighted to complete three days early,” said APM Director, Philip Rodrigues. Crystal Symphony’s refit is just one of Atlantic Pacific Marine’s success stories this year.

The search for an Australian couple who went overboard Wednesday from the Carnival Spirit cruise ship has been called off, the Associated Press reported. The passengers, identified as Paul Rossington, 30, and Kristen Schroder, 26, went overboard in the waters off New South Wales, Australia. The couple was reported missing when the ship docked in Sydney on Thursday and have now been missing for more than two days.
