American Pilots’ Association Names Diamond as Executive Director

The American Pilots’ Association (APA) announced Clayton L. “Clay” Diamond will assume the duties of Executive Director and General Counsel effective January 1.Diamond succeeds Paul Kirchner, who has been APA Executive Director-General Counsel since 1992. Kirchner will continue with APA as Senior Counsel focusing on issues and projects related to State pilotage and international matters.Diamond, who has been APA’s Deputy Director-Associate General Counsel since 2008, is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

Gumbs to take the Helm of Bosch Rexroth North America

Greg Gumbs will be the new President and CEO of Bosch Rexroth North America when Paul Cooke retires on December 1, 2020.

Paul Cooke, President and CEO of Bosch Rexroth North America, based in Charlotte, NC, USA, will retire on December 31, 2020 after 38 years of service in various international positions within Bosch Rexroth. His successor as of December 1, 2020 will be Greg Gumbs, most recently Vice President & General Manager Electrical Automation Solutions at EATON Corporation. Gumbs will join Bosch Rexroth effective September 1, 2020 in preparation for his future responsibility and will be based at Bosch Rexroth North American headquarters in Charlotte…

Vigor has announced the addition of Jackie O’Brien to Vigor’s leadership team. As EVP of Strategy and Business Development, O’Brien will report directly to the CEO and play a key role in driving the development and execution of Vigor’s growth strategy as a leading industrial company. She will oversee business development for all Vigor business units including defense, aerospace, infrastructure, alternative energy and marine.O’Brien comes to Vigor following a twenty-five year career at Alcoa and Arconic, created by  Alcoa’s separation into two independent companies in 2016.

Great Lakes Towing Company Leadership Changes

Joseph Starck Jr. will take over as President of Great Lakes Towing Company. Starck joined the towing company in 1991 and was most recently its Vice President – Engineering. Since April 2009, he has also been President of the company’s shipyard division, which operates under the name Great Lakes Shipyard. Starck has been successfully leading all new construction and repair contracts for the company's Shipyard business, and will now be responsible for all of the towing company’s tugboat and shipyard activities on the Great Lakes. Starck is a graduate of the State University of New York Maritime College, and has an MBA from Case Western Reserve University. George Sogor was named Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.

NOL Group Board of Directors Appointments

Neptune Orient Lines Limited (NOL) announced the appointment of international business figure Robert J. Herbold to the company’s Board of Directors, effective 1 February 2010. From 1994 to 2001, Herbold was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Microsoft Corporation. After retiring in 2001, Mr Herbold worked half-time for Microsoft until 2003 as Executive Vice President assisting in government, industry, and customer issues. Prior to joining Microsoft, Herbold spent 26 years at The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G). In his last five years with P&G he served as its Senior Vice President of Marketing. Currently, Herbold is the Managing Director of Herbold Group, LLC, a consulting business focused on profitability.

Raytheon Appoints Hoeffler VP for DD(x) Program

Mike Hoeffler has been appointed vice president of the DD(X) program at Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems. Hoeffler replaces Jack Cronin, who has been named president of Raytheon Systems Limited (RSL), Raytheon's United Kingdom subsidiary. Under the three-year $1.3 billion contract, Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems serves as the weapon and electronic systems integrator for DD(X) -- the transformational next-generation destroyer for the U.S. Navy that will revolutionize naval technology for the 21st century. Hoeffler joined Raytheon in 1969 as an engineer and then moved into program management where he managed a number of military, commercial, and international programs.

Weakley Named Next President of Lake Carriers' Association

James H.I Weakley has been selected to be the next President of Lake Carriers' Association. He will succeed George J. Ryan when the latter retires after 20 years of service on January 15, 2003. Weakley will begin serving as President-Elect of LCA on October 1 to ensure an orderly succession. "I am delighted to turn the helm over to Jim Weakley," said Ryan. "I have worked with him for more than 10 years and consider Jim ideally suited to represent U.S.-Flag shipping on the Great Lakes. He possesses both managerial and operational skills that, combined with his knowledge of the U.S. "As both a member of the Coast Guard and then private industry, I have held George Ryan in the highest regard," said Weakley.
