CAT’s New Dual Fuel Engine M 4G DF

At the beginning of 2015 the exhaust limit values for sulfur oxides (SOx) grew ever tighter in emission controlled areas. And with the start of 2016, nitrogen oxides (NOx) values in certain emission control areas (ECAs) will be even more restricted. Dual fuel engines such as the newly developed MaK M 46 DF from Caterpillar help to support the drive for cleaner emissions in the maritime sector. Caterpillar Engines to Power Six Drillships

Caterpillar Global Petroleum to supply diesel generator sets for the drillships to be built in Brazil. The contract has been awarded by Estaleiro Enseada do Paraguaçu (EEP) for six drillships to be built at Estaleiro Enseada do Paraguaçu shipyard in the state of Bahia, Brazil, which has charter contracts with Petrobras for these vessels. Each of the six drillships will be powered by 6 x 16CM32 main diesel generator sets and the emergency power will be provided by 1 x 3516B generator set. Antti Ekqvist, Caterpillar global business development manager for offshore oil and gas commented, “We are pleased to be selected as the preferred power solutions provider by EEP for these new drillships.

German Caterpillar Facility Receives Sustainability Award

The work done at Catepillar’s Kiel Engine Center in Kiel, Germany, during the manufacturing process for MaK and Cat engines up to 16,000 kW is now being recognized through an environmental protection award. In June, Caterpillar Motoren, the manufacturing arm focused on the production of MaK and Cat engines for marine, petroleum and power generation applications, was awarded an Environmental Award from the Economic Association of Schleswig-Holstein, the northernmost state in Germany.

President Bush Visits Caterpillar Facility

Caterpillar Inc. hosted President George W. Bush at the company's manufacturing facility in East Peoria, Illinois, where the President commended Caterpillar for successfully demonstrating that U.S. companies can successfully compete on the world stage. "The U.S. and global economy have benefited from the President's pro-growth tax and free trade policies, which have stimulated strong economic growth," said Caterpillar Chairman and CEO Jim Owens while introducing the President. During his visit, the President highlighted free trade agreements put in place during his administration, which have benefited companies like Cat. The machines and products made in East Peoria and at Caterpillar facilities across the U.S. are shipped throughout the world.
