Asia’s First Two Arctic Icebreakers

Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd (Keppel Singmarine) has completed Asia’s first two icebreakers, built for one of the harshest marine frontiers on Earth, the Arctic sea for client, LUKOIL-Kaliningradmorneft (LUKOIL). Mr Charles Foo, Chairman of Keppel Singmarine, said “This is the first time that icebreakers meant for the Arctic region have been built in the tropics. The second vessel was named Varandey by Mrs Lyudmila Velikova, wife of Mr Victor Velikov, Deputy General-Director of LUKOIL at a Russian-themed ceremony at Marina at Keppel Bay today.

KOMtech: Keppel Debuts New Tech Center

Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited (Keppel O&M) celebrated its fifth year with a strong net orderbook of over $8.9b, including above $4.8b of new contracts secured year-to-date. The company was established in 2002 following the restructuring and integration of the offshore and marine businesses of Keppel Corporation. Focused on technology innovation to provide viable and cost effective solutions for its customers, Keppel O&M’s proprietary technologies have generated contracts worth some $10.3b over the years, including current projects under construction.

Keppel Offshore & Marine secures OSV Contracts

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) has secured a total of S$172 million worth of contracts through its wholly owned subsidiaries, Keppel Singmarine Ltd and AMFELS in USA. Keppel Singmarine, a specialized shipbuilder, will build four Anchor Handling Tug/ Supply (AHTS) vessels for European based company, Groupe Bourbon and four harbor tugs for Keppel Smit Towage. Deliveries of the eight vessels are slated progressively between the third quarter of 2004 and first quarter 2006.

Keppel Wins $17M Contract

Keppel Shipyard, a member of the Keppel Hitachi Zosen Group, won a $17 million contract from Blue Ice Shipping Corporation to convert a container vessel into a livestock carrier. Maysora -- a 643 x 93 x 52.8 ft. (196 x 28.4 x 16.1 m), 24,515 dwt container vessel will be converted into a fully outfitted livestock vessel with a minimum carrying capacity of 70,560 sheep and 5,640 cattle. Mr Charles Foo, Managing Director of Keppel Hitachi Zosen said, "We were awarded this job based on our competitive pricing and wealth of experience in conversion projects, specifically livestock carrier conversions. During the conversion, Keppel Shipyard will increase Maysora's carrying capacity by maximizing all available space in the vessel.

KPMI Appoints Yeo as Chairman of Board

Keppel Philippines Marine Inc (KPMI), a company listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange and a subsidiary of Keppel Corporation Limited, has appointed Nelson Yeo as Chairman with effect from. He has also been appointed Chairman of Subic Shipyard & Engineering Inc (SSEI), an associate of Keppel Corporation Limited. Yeo takes over the chairmanship of KPMI and SSEI from Charles Foo, Managing Director (Special Projects) of Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M), who has also resigned as Director of both companies. Foo, who is currently Chairman of Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd of Singapore and Keppel Nantong Shipyard, China, was appointed Chairman of KPMI and SSEI in November 1999.

Keppel Wins S$120M in Contracts

Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), has clinched three newbuilding contracts worth a total of S$120 million. The first contract involves the construction of four Anchor Handling Tug/Supply (AHTS) vessels at its Keppel Nantong Shipyard, northwest of Shanghai. The deliveries of these vessels are expected between third quarter 2007 and mid 2008. The owner is Hadi Offshore Pte Ltd., a newly established Singapore subsidiary of Hadi H. Al Hammam Est., Saudi Arabia (HADI). The companies have awarded Keppel Singmarine a total of 14 orders since 2001. Keppel Singmarine’s latest delivery for HADI was in December 2005.

Keppel Philippines Appoints New Execs.

Keppel Corporation Ltd.'s Group Finance Director, Teo Soon Hoe has been appointed Chairman of Keppel Philippines Holdings, Inc (KPH), following the retirement of Loh Wing Siew. Charles Foo, who currently serves as the managing director of Keppel Hitachi Zosen, will assume Loh's post as Chairman of Keppel Philippines Marine, Inc (KPMI) and Subic Shipyard and Engineering Inc (SSEI). Kevin Wong, who is the executive director and managing director of Keppel Land Limited (Keppel Land) in Singapore, will take over as chairman of Keppel Philippines Properties Inc (KPPI).
