BAE Systems Wins $5 Billion Naval Shipbuilding Contract

Multinational defense contractor and shipbuilder BAE Systems announced it has been awarded a £4.2 billion (approx. $5 billion) contract from the U.K. Ministry of Defense to build the next five City Class Type 26 frigates for the U.K. Royal Navy in Glasgow.Ships of the class will be advanced warships designed for anti-submarine warfare and high-intensity air defense, but can adapt its role quickly to transport high volumes of humanitarian aid and house medical facilities, according…

Prince of Wales Maiden Visit to Home Port

Britain's newest aircraft carrier, HMS Prince of Wales sails into home port of Portsmouth Naval Base for the first time.The £3.1 billion warship left Rosyth dockyard, Scotland, where it was built in September before undergoing eight weeks of sea trials.The ship’s arrival into Portsmouth represents the culmination of 16 years of work by the ACA – a unique alliance relationship between BAE Systems, Babcock, Thales, and the UK Ministry of Defence.More than 10,000 people across the UK have been involved in the program to deliver the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers, with six British shipbuilding yards across the country playing a vital role in the ships’ design and construction.Sir Simon Lister…

BAE Systems Names Wolstenholme MD in the UK

Andrew Wolstenholme OBE will join BAE Systems plc from May 24, 2018, in a newly-created role on the Executive Committee as Group Managing Director, Maritime and Land UK.   Wolstenholme will be responsible for BAE Systems’ Maritime and Land UK sectors and will report directly to Chief Executive, Charles Woodburn.   Wolstenholme joins BAE Systems from Crossrail Ltd., where he led Europe's largest infrastructure project for the last seven years. He has extensive experience in business leadership and delivering major engineering projects in the U.K., Asia and North America, including the delivery of Heathrow Airport's Terminal 5.

A graduate of Harvard's Advanced Management Program, Mr Renfroe brings a wealth of experience in his 39 years working in oilfield services, including a range of strategic management and executive leadership roles. Prior to joining Expro, Mr Renfroe was a Director of Wood Group plc, responsible for its Well Support division. Mr Renfroe led the highly successful sale of Wood Group’s Well Support division to GE in 2011 for $2.8bn.
