For Hire: Battery Hybrid PSVs

Systems integrator and equipment maker Rolls-Royce has quietly been adding hybridizing energy-storage packages to a diverse list of vessels. Yet, so, too, has one of its clients — Louisiana-based SEACOR Marine, as it reacts early to tightened emissions and energy-management standards, or EMS, for vessels plying Europe and North America. Fuel savings and energy-company clients seeking green credentials are, it turns out, just part of the upside driving battery retrofits.The fuel savings to be had for keeping thrusters on battery power are a powerful selling point, to be sure.

Rolls-Royce To Supply 4 Designs And Vessel Systems To COSCO

COSCO Shipyard Group has announced that it has been awarded options by the Singapore-based Chellsea Group for the construction of four platform supply vessels designed by Rolls-Royce. With this contract, COSCO has ordered integrated design and equipment packages for a total of eight Rolls-Royce UT 771 WP platform supply vessels, with an option for further two. The first four are currently under construction, while the subsequent four are scheduled for delivery between the second quarter of 2016 and the first quarter of 2017. All eight vessels will be added to the fleet of two UT 755 LN vessels that are already in operation with Chellsea.

Chellsea Expands PSV Order from COSCO, Rolls-Royce

COSCO Shipyard Group announced that it has been awarded options by the Singapore-based Chellsea Group for the construction of four platform supply vessels designed by Rolls-Royce. With this contract, COSCO has ordered integrated design and equipment packages for a total of eight Rolls-Royce UT 771 WP platform supply vessels, with an option for further two. COSCO Selects Rolls-Royce Package

Rolls-Royce won an order to provide an integrated design and equipment package for two offshore supply vessels to be built at COSCO (Guangdong) Shipyard Co., Ltd in China for Singapore based Chellsea Group. The two Rolls-Royce UT 771 WP platform supply vessels features the striking wave piercing bow designed to pierce through waves in rough seas, making it possible to keep a more constant speed, reduce fuel consumption and increase on board safety.

It could be argued that no other sector of the maritime market has experienced a design innovation revolution quite like the Offshore Service Vessel (OSV) market. Driven by demands to supply people, gear and goods to offshore installations that are increasingly further from shore in deeper waters, today’s OSV is a far cry from those built only a decade ago. Rolls-Royce Design and Equipment for COSCO

Rolls-Royce has won an order to provide an integrated design and equipment package for two offshore supply vessels to be built at COSCO (Guangdong) Shipyard Co., Ltd. in China for the Singapore based Chellsea Group, a company in the offshore oilfield services industry. The two Rolls-Royce UT 771WP platform supply vessels will be the first vessels in Asia featuring the wave piercing bow designed to pierce through the waves in rough seas, making it possible to keep a more constant speed, reduce fuel consumption and increase on board safety.
