APC Announces Retirement of Harrington

Advanced Polymer Coatings (APC) has announced the retirement of Joseph F. Harrington after 25 years with Advanced Polymer Coatings. In 1994 he was approached by Don Keehan, Chairman of Advanced Polymer Coatings, to further develop the Marine Coatings industry with APC’s MarineLINE high-performance coating. Norden Signs 3-year COA with Qatar Vinyl

Danish shipping company Norden has signed a three-year contract of affreightment (COA) with Qatari chemical firm Qatar Vinyl Company, commencing in the second quarter of 2019.Qatar Vinyl Company, a subsidiary of Qatar Petrochemical Company, produces various polymers and chemicals. The agreement is for the shipment of salt from West Coast India to Qatar, where the salt will be used for chemical production.The shipping company operating in the dry cargo and tanker segment worldwide said in a press release that the contract marks a strengthening of the collaboration between the 2 parties and entails shipment of approximately 500,000 tons…

Chemical Tankers Market to Grow at a CAGR of 4.5% by 2022

Ingram Barge Order 20 Tank Barges for 2015

Ingram Barge Company say they will be building 20 tank barges in 2015 to meet growing demand for chemical shipments. While most of the company’s recent tank barges have come through acquisitions, this continued expansion in their barge fleet coincides with a 10-year plan that began in 2007 to build barges with Trinity Industries. Ingram's building strategy has been able to maintain their fleet size as barges reach retirement age. This announcement demonstrates their’s commitment to continue building tank barges as part of its goal to meet its growing customers’ demand in the Chemical Liquids sector. New Logistics Facility Coming to Port of New Orleans

Governor Bobby Jindal and CEO Jack Jensen of Jensen Companies announced the development of a new 500,000-square-foot logistics facility by TCI Plastics – a Jensen Companies division – at the Port of New Orleans. TCI will make a $36.5 million capital investment to build the facility at its France Road Wharf hub, and the project will create 160 new direct jobs with an average salary of more than $33,400, plus benefits. LED estimates the project will result in an additional 183 new indirect jobs, for a total of more than 340 new jobs.

Subsea Arctic, Black Sea: Technip Signs Russia J/V's

Technip signs two agreements with State Corporation Russian Technologies (Rostec) for subsea equipment production. Technip and RT-Chemcomposite Holding Company, a Rostec subsidiary, signed a memorandum of understanding to express their intention to form a joint-venture (JV) company for subsea activities in Russia. Under the terms of this memorandum, the joint venture is a cooperation in the production of equipment for the oil and gas industry and in particular flexible composite pipes based on Technip’s technology. It allows to produce oil and gas at the depth of down to 3,000 meters and provides for speedy pipe laying operations. They will also intend to evaluate the possibility of establishing a research and development center.

Commercial Barge Line Company Announces Results

Company announces offering of $650 million senior secured term loan. Commercial Barge Line Company  announced results for the quarter and year ended December 31, 2012. For the year, the Company reported total revenues of $811.6 million and Adjusted EBITDAR of $232.1 million. Compared to 2011 results, revenues declined $41.4 million, or 4.9%, while Adjusted EBITDAR improved by $57.8 million, or 33.2%. For the quarter, total revenues were $207.9 million compared to $244.5 million in 2011 and Adjusted EBITDAR was $62.8 million compared to $60.3 million in 2011. IHC Lagersmit acquires ATEX 95 certificate for its LIQUIDYNE pump shaft seal. IHC Lagersmit, part of IHC Merwede, has acquired the ATEX 95 registration for its LIQUIDYNE pump shaft seal. This registration signifies compliance with the European guidelines, which must be met in order for equipment to be used in potentially explosive atmospheres. The ATEX 95 registration has been issued by DEKRA Certification, which judged and approved the Technical Construction File for the LIQUIDYNE series, types LDS, L2T and L3T.

Thermo Andersen Gets Approval

Thermo Andersen announces that the EPA has approved the M9096 sampler for use in any instance where Method 17 is required. The portable M9096 Stack Train provides an accurate means to collect a sample for particulate emissions at an affordable price. The sampler collects particulate matter from source point emissions such as boilers and process stacks by using an in stack filter as sample media; analysis is gravimetric. The sampler allows for isokinetic sampling rates as prescribed by ISO 9096, BS6069 and US EPA Test Method 17. Applications include Particulate CEM Calibration, utility, pulp and paper, ferric and non-ferrous metal production, wood products, and chemical production. The system can now be used to determine compliance with any Federal, State or local air permit.

Unitor awarded major supply agreement by Bergesen

Norway's Bergesen DY Group has awarded international ships service provider Unitor a three year agreement, plus two one-year options, to supply marine products and services to its commercial fleet, which is one of the largest in the world. The agreement involves a wide range of products and services needed for onboard maintenance; fire, rescue and safety, as well as technical chemicals. Bergesen wished to consolidate on the supplier side and carried out a comparison of the major marine suppliers.
