Stolt-Nielsen Says 2022 Q2 Profit Best Since 2007

Norwegian chemical tanker owner Stolt-Nielsen on Thursday reported a second-quarter net profit attributable to shareholders of $58.6 million, with revenue of $689.1 million. This is an increased compared with a net profit of $52.3 million, with revenue of $606.2 million, in the first quarter.Niels G. AET Wins $245Mln Charter Deal with Shell

Petroleum and chemical tanker owner AET Tanker Holdings has been awarded three long-term time charter contracts by Brazil Shipping I Limited, a Shell group entity.The subsidiary of Malaysia’s maritime solutions and services provider MISC Berhad said in a press release that Under the terms of the deal it will own and operate the related newbuilding Suezmax Class Dynamic Positioning (DP) shuttle tankers for operations in international and Brazilian waters.The estimated contract value is USD 245 million and the charter is expected to commence in 2022.These long-term time charter contracts will further reinforce AETs position as one of the…

Team Tankers Sells Two Ships

Bermuda-based global shipping company Team Tankers International finalized the sale of the last two of its five older medium range (MR) tankers.Team Tankers has managed to free up a funds for new investments after divesting MR tankers, said CEO Hans Feringa.Feringa said: “We finalized the sale of the last two of our five older MRs at attractive levels, concentrating our efforts on our younger, more sophisticated, deep sea assets. With the sale of the older MRs and certain intermediate ships, we have freed up capital for investment activity and positioned ourselves for 2020 with a more focused deep sea fleet. AET Tankers Conduct Maiden LNG Bunkering

AET Names its First LNG-Fueled Aframax Pair

Petroleum and chemical tanker owner and operator  AET Tankers has named and welcomed its first LNG dual-fuelled aframax vessels, Eagle Brasilia and Eagle Bintulu.According to a press release of the Singapore-based company, the ceremony for the vessels was held at the Samsung Heavy Industry Co Ltd’s (SHI) shipyard in Geoje, South Korea. ABB to Equip AET's New Shuttle Tankers

ABB said it has won an order from Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries to equip two new 125,000 DWT shuttle tankers contracted to the world's largest offshore operator Statoil ASA. Ordered by petroleum and chemical tanker owner and operator AET and scheduled for delivery in 2019, the vessels will transport oil from the Statoil fields on the Norwegian and U.K. continental shelves to land-based terminals. The two twin-skeg specialist DP2 offshore loading shuttle tankers will feature a range of ABB’s power and automation solutions, including the power distribution system Onboard DC Grid.

Sinochem Implements DNV GL's ShipManager to 80 Vessels

China’s Sinochem International Logistics, a leading chemical tanker owner and operator with 80 vessels, is implementing DNV GL’s data smart fleet management system ShipManager on the entire fleet, optimizing operations and improving performance and efficiency. The contract was signed in April at the opening of DNV GL’s newbuilt near-zero-emission Green Office Centre in Shanghai, with the Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg in attendance, in addition to two of her cabinet members. DNV GL - Software CEO Are Føllesdal Tjønn and Sinochem International Logistics Vice General Manager Zhang Xin signed the contract at the ceremony. “We are proud to be partnering with Sinochem, an innovative and growing shipping company in Asia,” said Tjønn.

Otto Marine’s Two Australian Units May Wind-up

Otto Marine Ltd. said three creditors filed three such applications with the Supreme Court of Western Australia to wind up  its subsidiaries in Australia - Go Inshore Pty and Go Marine Group Pty, says a report in Bloomberg. Creditors are claiming A$787,204 (S$814,580) from the offshore marine group. The total sum claimed against the subsidiaries pursuant to the applications is in the approximate quantum of A$787,204, the company said. The management of Go Marine Group is seeking legal advice and plans to dispute the debts. The cases will be heard on Nov. Otto Marine itself has been taking legal action against its debtors as the downturn in the offshore marine sector bites.

American Phoenix

BAE Systems joined with Mid Ocean Tanker Company (MOTC), Mid Ocean Marine and Alterna Captial Partners earlier this year to commission the American Phoenix, a U.S. Flag/Jones Act-qualified product-chemical tanker. Measuring 616 x 105 ft. with a laden draft of 36 ft. and a cargo capacity of 49,000 dwt, American Phoenix is the largest vessel ever built and launched in the State of Alabama. BAE Systems was contracted to complete construction of the American Phoenix and prepare it for use. The vessel is owned by MOTC, a joint venture between Mid Ocean Marine and private equity firm Alterna Capital Partners. The vessel will conduct trade initially in the Gulf of Mexico.
