Perkins marine diesel auxiliary engines have been supplied to four RAmparts 3200-CL tugs built by Cheoy Lee Shipyards Ltd, Hong Kong for operations in Australia and Indonesia. Multico Power Drive Pte Ltd, the distributor for Perkins marine engines in Singapore, has supplied two Perkins 6TWGM engines to each of the following tugs: Hawksbill, Flatback, Loggerhead and Limin ASD 55. Each tug is 32m L.O.A. and built to Lloyds’ requirements with special notations. The Perkins 6TWGM is part of the 1006 Series.

RT Discovery, the first of the next generation Rotortugs, was delivered by Cheoy Lee Shipyards Ltd. to her new owner Elisabeth Ltd. in Malta. The new Robert Allan Ltd. designed 80 tons harbor/escort tug features the Rotortug propulsion configuration. RT Discovery’s maneuverability and strength provide operators with maximum tugboat safety during operations and enhance the operational possibilities enormously, Rotortug said. The RT Discovery has a bollard pull of more than 86 tons and a maximum speed of 13.5 knots ahead and sailing astern, and has the capability of 7.5 knots sidestepping.

Rotortug said that Elisabeth Ltd. has placed a new building order with Damen Shipyards for the construction of two Hybrid Advanced Rotortugs, ART 80-32 of 80 tons bollard pull. imultaneously Elisabeth Ltd ordered two ART 80-32, with Fifi 1, at Cheoy Lee Shipyards Ltd. They  will be the first series of Rotortugs to be built at Damen Shipyards and Cheoy Lee Shipyards Ltd and will be added to the Kotug fleet. On December 4, the third in a fleet of 13 new tugboats purchased by the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) began making its way from Hong Kong to Panama. The Sixaola is expected to arrive at the Panama Canal in mid-February. The new fleet of tugboats, which will all be named after rivers in Panama, were built by Cheoy Lee Shipyards, Ltd. in China. They are equipped with General Electric 12V 228 main engines, Twin Disc MCD 3000-8 HD clutches and Schottel SRP 1515 FP propulsion units.

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) announced that it has introduced five new tugboats to its fleet, increasing the availability of these vessels used to assist ships transiting the waterway. The new units, purchased from Cheoy Lee Shipyards, Ltd., have an output capacity of 4,800 horse power and a bollard pull of more than 60 metric tons.
